Dub Style 0 Posted July 6, 2004 i've just got some VDO Guages outta a Audi 80, any one know of a wiring diagram for these
Henny 0 Posted July 6, 2004 which gauges, and did you get the senders too? The VDO gauges I've got kicking around are wired as below: Clock has permanent live and earth. Oil pressure has 3 terminals, Ignition live (+) earth (- or upside down T) and sender wire (G) Oil temp has the same, Voltage just needs ignition live and an earth. They also then have a blue/gray wire to the illumination lamps and an earth from them too... All earths can be shared as can the ignition live, which can be sourced off the back of the stereo's wiring. Illumination power can be tapped into the fag lighter's illumination wire (normally a similar colour to the blue/gray of the Audi's wiring) They you just need to run a wire from the gauges to their respective senders in the engine bay to get it all to work... 8)
Dub Style 0 Posted July 7, 2004 Mines a volt, oil pressure and oil temp the pod has got a relay attached to it and ideas wot thats for, followig the wires seems like it for the illumination but i may be wrong
kvwloon 0 Posted July 7, 2004 I have a very good write up from VDO on this (their installation instructions in fact), I'll see if I am clever enough to attach it here, if not PM me your e-mail and I'll send it direct..... one good piece of advice is to give the voltmeter it's own dedicated earth, as this gives more accurate voltage readings. herisites 0 Posted September 3, 2007 Digging this out!!! I have had some audi vdo gauges sitting around for bloody ages but i never got the loom. I have put up a wanted for some if anyone has some but if not then i may just wire them up myself. Do i need any special wire to do this or can i just use the same copper wire for all? How much would i need if i got some off a reel?
Stan 24v 0 Posted September 26, 2007 Not sure what gauge wire to use, but I would hazard a guess of around 20. Just pop down to your local motor factors mate, they'll have what you need.
