It's not a Scirocco 10 Posted September 8, 2016 Sounds like tired bearings. I assumed it was the water pump as I have replaced the power steering pump thinking this was the problem as it sounded like it was low down. Before getting stuck in to changing the water pump i took the aux belt of and ran the engine just incase. Turns out to not be any of the parts run off the aux belt. So it's something internal. Oil pump? Something worse? Any ideas? Thanks Chris
It's not a Scirocco 10 Posted September 12, 2016 Being led to believe this could be the starter motor. Is there any ways to test before going in balls swinging and replacing it?
Harrier 1 Posted September 12, 2016 The starter motor , if faulty would only make any noise while cranking the engine on start up ? How long does the noise last? it could be the starter motor hanging on but that would only last a second or two after the engine has started
It's not a Scirocco 10 Posted September 12, 2016 The noise stays until the car has warmed up a bit, normally a few minutes. Only happens after a cold start. Similar sound to the various audio clips of motors hanging on but constant and increasing with revs.
It's not a Scirocco 10 Posted April 8, 2017 It was the oil pump swapped over for another and noise has gone.
