Squeaky Steering

Hi All,

 

Ive got squeaky steering on my valver, I 20vt'd it recently and the squeaky steering continued.

 

So basically the PAS pump has been replaced but it still squeaks, do you think this could be down to the steering column?

Resurrecting this thread, If i was do go down the route of replacing the steering rack is there an upgraded one i can use (i.e. vr6/mk4 golf etc) to make the steering lighter?.

 

I ask as even though it has the PAS pump from a Mk4 golf the steering still feels heavier than in a mk4 golf, or is this just down to the steering rack being knackered?

I spoke to Vince at stealth about similar and he said something about changing the pulley size on the pump, i wasn't sure how it would work with a the standard belt length though.

make sure you check which steering rack according to your VIN not your registration

 

i say this as there is a fine or coarse spline version which depends on your VIN

The Corrado has a 20vt in it at the moment.

its a project car so i may just pull it out completely then go from there.
