Loose cable at front of centre console, advise required

Brown is usually an earth, black/yellow is normally an X contact supply(ignition live unless the starter motor is cranking)

No idea what the plug is for though, not delved into either of my cars that far just yet(except the heater matrix on the Storm)

What year car is it and have you tested it to see if there is voltage at any time?

Pretty sure those connectors, with the black and yellow cable, are for ignition-on lighting, and if its in the centre console then I'd go with it would be for the gauges if you were to have them installed. It's fine to leave it disconnected.

I assumed the same thing, but connection is wrong. But wired my guages through the cig lighter and glovebox light.

My vr has a cable going into the cubby hole. I'll get a picture of it later to see if they are the same

Can't remember what the connector looks like, but could it be the illumination for the ash tray?

Jim your right it's the same connection block as for the ash tray. I have one spare like this too behind the dash.

Possibly the illumination for the auto-box model as the R-D-N-1-2-3 is illuminated on my car ;)
