Dub Style 0 Posted July 16, 2004 rite, when starting up my VR which seems to fire up pretty normal you hear this sound, it happens just when the engine fires but its a lil difficult to explain, sounds like a pump that runs for a second or so but it idles fine after that........could be that its normal but ive not come acrosss other cars that make a sound like that so a bit concerned. 16VG60 1 Posted July 17, 2004 This noise will be your fuel pump priming the system prior to start up. Have you only just started to notice this sound or has it allways been evident? Reason i ask is that if it is a recent event you may find that your pump may be having difficulties in operation, either due to wear or obstruction.
