Where does the door seal join?

Just a quick one, where does the seal on the bodywork join, the ones that go all around the door area. The big one. The long one. The one that pushes onto the a-post, roof, b-post and floor.

Right in the centre at the bottom. Should be a little metal joining strip, which is what rots in the first place and causes the rust to spread to the lip.

Hmmm, I am just fitting the new ones I had from Classic. I wondered if there would be a joining strip, but nothing.

And they are about 4cm too long, c'mon Volkswagen I expect better at that price

i found that it seemed a bit too long but then realised i'd not seated the seal properly in the bends.  From what i remember there was a plastic tube joiner between the two ends.

 

But having a longer gasket is certainly better than it falling short and leaving a gap! At least it can be trimmed to size.  But you're right for the price it really should be spot on.
