Blue smoke...

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Every now and again, I get little puffs of blue smoke from the exhaust on my VR, usually when accelerating after the engine has been on overrun. I posted a topic on the forum a while ago and it was suggested the valve stem oil seals might be the problem. Before I start taking the engine to bits though, I thought I'd throw this out there... :)

I'm told the little block on the left hand side of the rocker cover is a breather section. There seems to be yellowy sludge seeping out of the hose that comes out the back of this thing and I was just wondering if this could cause the blue smoke as well.

Ta very muchly!

I know, but I had a Mk2 Golf GTI a few years ago with a blocked engine breather and it was the same. Just a thought, don't want to replace things unnecessarily... :)
