Stone0311 0 Posted June 3, 2023 Morning all,Has anyone got any suggestions on getting the half turn on a G60 crank bolt? Assume valvers etc must be similar I've tried most logical options from across forums/web but am just under 90degs with a 1m 3/4 bar and get fet anymore - car is particularly jacked up with someone sat in with a foot on the brakes and in gear but now it's just turning the small amout of slack across the drivetrainRead about dropping the sump and timber wedging the crank or using impact but not resorted to these yetAny suggestions or tricks I've missed??Thx Sent from my SM-S901B using Tapatalk
Cressa 44 Posted June 3, 2023 I've only done one on a mk2 golf 8 valve. I did have the sump off and went with a wooden wedge on the crank. 20 mins and the sump was off. Gave me a chance to clean it up and paint I too. Gearbox end bolts are always a VW pain
Stone0311 0 Posted June 3, 2023 Thanks@Cressa, was starting to wonder if that was the next optionDid you wedge between the crank and the casing?Sent from my SM-S901B using Tapatalk
Cressa 44 Posted June 3, 2023 Yes mate I did. Some times you waste hours trying to find the easier solution thinking about it and trying to get someone to help. Plan B always seems longer but amazingly isn't and allows you to get the job done. Good luck
