Friend of mine just bought an 03 plate S3 for £22k. More money than sense really- although silver, with 18" rims, Bose, Leather etc... It is an awesome looking car,and the handling, unsurprisingly is excellent. However, It really didn't impress me with the power. It just didn't feel fast at all in a straight line- a little bit sluggish. However my friend was in the car as I was driving it,so I may not have been squeezing every little bit out of it... Gotta agree though that it is leagues apart in terms of the build quality, and a nice cabin to be in!! Oh yeah, my friend is 23 with 0 NCB and paying £2300 insurance......

It sounds as if it has to be the wiring mate, maybe when the stereo was played around with they may have pulled a few of the wires out from the plugs or not earthed them properly. Whip the centre console- only take 15 mins or so to get it out and have a butchers....

Does anyone know where the screws that hold the dashboard to the engine compartment are? Have looked under the bonnet beneath the water tray but can't identify them anywhere. Presumably there is one either side of the engine comp[artment fro left and right??

I think the Cooper S is a good car and handles beautifully. A friend of mine has one, and although it doesn't feel fast, it is. They do have to be worked quite hard though, and the torque is pretty pants too- you have to keep dropping it a gear if your gonna keep up with anything quick

Believe me these R34's are the dog's danglies. My father imported one from Dubai 5 years ago and has only just sold it for 911 Turbo. IMO it is the best car I have ever driven and been in. They are scarily quick, and I have never seen anything that came close on any type of road, motorway, country lanes etc..... I once had enormous fun playing with a 330CI on a dual carriageway- 2 young guys trying to give it, and believe me, they disappeared behind so quickly, it was unreal. 8) 8)

Heater matrix has well and truly given up the ghost..... all the signs: passenger footwell soaked, smoke coming out of the vents etc... Decided to tackle this myself, but would really appreciate some help- maybe even a guide to follow in the replacement of it. I'm gonna remove the dash completely and get to the bugger. Used the search but can't seem to download a guide that was put up on the subject. Anyone know any links to this guide- would very much appreciate it. Thabks, Sean
