I swapped the plate to a vr6 one which uses a nut, so might have a look
-
Hey all, got a 91 g60, ive recently changed lower ball joints, last year swapped spring plates to early vr6 including top mounts and had the tracking done at the start of the month (it was a bit out) about a week later started to get a clunk when i turn (stationary or slow roll) driving in a straight line i get nothing, pull off i get another clunk and slow down, ive jacked it up yanked on the wheels no play, yanked the springs to see if anything there nout, today i put the car on full lock and grabbed the track rod and rocked the steering wheel i could feel a small clunk grabbed the track rod end and repeated no clunk felt grabbed the rod and i can pull the rod and get a bit of a clunk, what can cuase things like this? Track rod, rod end or even the rack bush?
-
hello, i have read in a previous post that when you go around the corner and the car wants to go on a little then little more steering angle and it goes round could be either loose bolts or worn bush on the rack does the car have two bushes on the rack or is it one bush and then fixed metal bracket the other end? power steering racks i've seen on the net don't help that much

Hey all, got a 91 g60 based on the earlier and thinking of putting a brace in, but dont know what to get, will a mk2 g60 one fit and if so, go for upper or lower?
-
i know, i've got a vw specialist near me, just he doesn't have the equipment to do track and camber, they have to take it somewhere
-
along way to go just for tracking
-
only thing i need to do is get this tool, a four poster ramp and a guide to say where my camber is sitting as i play with the settings
-
Just spoke to vw burton t l darby and thy charge 79 quid
-
Vw has made a tool for sorting out camber while on the deck, goes between the body wheel or strut and you just slowly wind it to where you want it and lock the strut back up
-
sadly you are abit too far away, but i am in the process of swapping out ball joints and suspension, might even do a complete track rod swap too as the car had stood since 2005 till mid 2013 in a garage (which caused things to get blocked and blew up my charger) i've already put new wishbone powerflex bushes in
-
shame you look like your based in west sussex, im up in derbyshire, so need to find someone local who has that sort of knowledge
-
i know it's not uncommon, but in the space of 20 days to seize? if you look in a haynes of a mk2 golf it says lock passenger side straight and adjust the drivers side only, as it messes with the steering angles and geometry
-
im contemplating it, as the passenger side top mounts keep messing up, but might do that once i get knew springs and dampers
-
it was the original g60 ones that had gone, it went in for some work and they took it for a test drive and heard a clunk, and saw they had gone, and was told if gonna put new ones in, use vr as they are a better quality and give better handling
-
righty then, i've got vr6 top mounts and bearings, all seem to wear out quickly on the passenger side, i jack the car up, the strut drops and wiggles around too freely, driver side is rock solid when jacked up, but weird thing is driver side has sagged and is solid, passenger side hasn't and feels sloppy, bit of a **** take to be fair. so was hoping a new suspension system fixes it
-
plus axle i've heard is 5 stud/wide track, im the good ol' 4 stud, will have to do some research as to which ones i need, even though i don't see a difference, apparently hub mounting holes are the same, eibach springs are the same part number, so guessing late vs early models
-
well its saying front is either a 25-30mm drop, so guessing on the engine changes the drop? i wont have the plus axle, just gotta find out which one i need
-
is this the kit you have? which top cap did you use, early vw, early vr6 or late vr6, as i have all 3, and what does it mean drops the front 25-30mm, cos i don't see how it can do that? http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/suspension-kits/car/volkswagen/corrado-g60/1991/1-8/eibach-b12-pro-kit-suspension-kit-with-bilstein-b8-dampers-lowers-front-25-30mm-and-rear-25mm
-
nice, eurocar parts has some bilstein shocks for the front (http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_1.8_1991/p/car-parts/suspension-and-steering/suspension/shock-absorber/?635441365&1&8551075143a6a9298f414314d2ba934094404d92&000925), but looks like the image is missing the lower spring plate

i took it kwik fit, and there was a lad who knew about old vws (which was good) who adjusted it first time, by making sure passanger side was right length and then adjusting drivers side, then steering wheel back in place, but need a tweak a few weeks later, so took it back for the free adjustment, and they kept saying "we can't do it, it keeps moving the passenger side" and then said it needs heating up to free the lock ring and rod end" and then gave up saying it can't be done i went to take it to vw in tamworth, and they said audi down the road was the only local garage able to do it, but wanted £150 to check the camber too (which i found out at kwik fit was about -1.2) both sides but changed when tracking done
-
hey all, i want to get my tracking done on my 91 g60, but the garages i use keep wanting to adjust the passenger side track rod, i have a workshop manual and what i believe to be the bently manual, they both suggest keeping the passenger side locked to a certain length and then adjusting the drivers side, but every time i've had this done, the car still wants to wander to the left, even my mk2 golf 1.6 driver did this, is this normal?
-
im still debating factory dampers and lowering springs (eibach) can't be bothered with coilovers unless im gonnna spend a bomb load on them, or another good brand who does a combi springs and shocks?
-
Not really got one yet, gotta save up, but its just front drivers that is sagging, but will do it all, rears have sachs on and look like newish springs, but was hoping to stay some form of factory, as i have a rieger splitter to go back on, so cant drop it or drop it much at all
-
Hey all, i have a g60 91 no ac with standard suspension but with vr6 top mounts and spring caps, its started sagging on the driverside so want to change the suspension, im thinking vr6 setup, but according to the parts data base there is 6 variants all with different colours for springs and then shocks. Im after an oem look with the slightly stiffer ride in the bends hence factory setup, but not a clue what im looking at or the meanings of the colour bands I have the spring plates for both early and late models due to an ordering cock up i did

hey all, i want to swap my wishbone bushes as im being pulled most ways, i want to swap the wishbones and bushes, but i keep hearing different things, i have a g60, but i wouldn't mind going slightly wider (if it's possible without swapping the subframe), but i don't want to use standard bushes, i was thinking something like power flex, so what do people say is best to use? i've heard people use mk4 r32 or audi tt bushes i've also read that some people have used passat or vr arms i am feeling confused over the whole issue
