    Leon Cupra R

Wouldn't mind one myself. Not keen on 225bhp and FWD though  180bhp to 210bhp to 225bhp.........next step 4motion? They couldn't do it before without stepping on S3 sales but now the new 3.2quattro is more of a refined cruiser than sports car there could be room for a 4x4 Leon Cupra.
  2. I did see a blue Corrado in Houston but that was nearly 2 yrs ago........

    LPG conversion?

If you're dead set on an LPG conversion then think of the following. I looked into converting a jeep cherokee and spoke to a conversion company about it. 1. Are you sure you'll be keeping the car for at least 2 -3 yrs after converting? It will take 12 - 18 months to recover the cost and another 12 months of motoring to have actually made it worthwhile. 2. Don't go for the older single point injection systems which may appear cheaper but you lose about 10% in performance (so I was told). Pay a little extra for the multi point injection and you won't lose out on power. (Although the Corrado 16v engine might not suffer so much as its an old tech engine). 3. If your car has a small boot (which the corrado has) then consider a tank to replace the original petrol tank. This has 2 parts, a large LPG tank and a small reserve tank for petrol. You get a switch on your dash to switch between them. Alternatively you can go for a "doughnut" tank which sts in the spare wheel well but wont hold so much fuel. You then have the problem of not having a spare tyre but most converters will give you a can of "get you home" tyre sealant. 4. Find out how many garages sell LPG in your area. 5. As mentioned on another post. Shop around, you should look to pay £1500 or a little less. HTH
  4. A red 16v parked next to the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday. Looked standard. Reg G*** DEM.
  5. I've been lucky in that all my cars have had some merit in them and been fun to drive from a 1000cc 1972 mini (first car) through mk1 GTI, Citroen AX GT, Nissan Sylvia 1.8T, Corrado VR6 and a few others so I'm going to base this on reliability. In which case the Nissan Sylvia was the worst car I've owned. So many problems........I can't even write them down without getting angy .
  6. I'm still not a fan of the Cayenne, much prefer the VW Touareg but I agree about the Cayenne suiting huge alloys. Its looks a bit of a porker (excuse the pun) when sitting on standard wheels. Aye, I've got an A6 now. Its a 3.0L quattro sport and I had to have it as soon as I took it for a spin. Not particularly quick but a good all rounder and not as gutsy as you might think. I called AMD about chipping it but apparently the 3.0L engine is maxed out as it is. Shame.
  7. Crikey!! The boss at the company next door has just fitted a set of 21" alloys to his Cayenne  . Makes the 18" wheels on my bosses 911 look tiddly never mind the 17's on my car. Even on a car as big as the Cayenne they look plainly rediculous. I'd hate to think how much they cost, the rubber alone must have been over a grand.

    R32

I really wish I could say that I'm getting one but its just not going to be practical enough for the job and for carrying mountain bikes and associated gear. I test drove an 18 month old W8 Passat estate yesterday and they have given me a fantastic deal on the price and on my jeep so i may plump for that. It wasn't the fastest car off the line (7.5 secs or so) as it has a tiptronic box but through the gears it was mind blowing and it sounded great too. It would be a good Q car as long as people don't notice the 4 big exhausts sticking out the back....
  9. I'm in agreement with Roddy on the standard VR6 speedlines. I loved the standard look of my car. (see Joe M's pics as he now owns it).

    R32

I'm actually glad there is a 5 door model of the R32. I start a new job in 10 days time and the car allowance will stretch to a new R32 but one of the stipulations of the allowance is that my car must have no less than 4 doors. It may not be the most desirable as the 3 door but at least it means its on my list of cars to try.

    smooth idling VR6

My Corrado idled exactly as VR6Storm described for the whole 3 years I owned the car. Didn't seem to be any problems with it.
  12. Bally I think the price is a bit steep. First of all, the money they have spent on it is only to keep it in its current condition so don't pay over the odds for that. Secondly its white which will be harder to sell on plus it does have 145K on the clock and 6 previous owners. Thirdly I'd get the oil drip checked out during a second look at the car, might be nothing could be something. As a guide have a look at the Bordeaux Pearl 1.8 16v on the Scottish Corrado owners site @ http://www.kf010a4571.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ Page 2 of the members section. This car was sold last year for around 2200 with low owners, FSH, 110K and was in excellent condition with a top end rebuild having just been done. I'd say that the car you're looking at would be worth 1.8 - 2K tops. HTH Paul

    VR6 on E-bay

Check this golf out - poor thing, no car deserves this :( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... egory=9873
  14. Shhhhhh!!!.....paul grant might see this ......though i can still report back to him that your looking after his old baby
  15. Yeah, I'm pretty sure he still uses the mk2 as a loan car.....tried getting a 944 turbo from him when the missus' A3 was in but no such luck.... :(
  16. With the recent topic of over inflated servicing charges (see Bavaria Auto Werke thread) I just thought I'd throw in a recomendation. A friend of mine owns a Garage in Stonehaven called Firstdrive Cars. He has a couple of excellent mechanics who are skilled in all types of German cars and I trusted them with my VR6 for the past 3 years, (and my 3 series convertible before that), when it needed any work done including a head rebuild. His hourly rate is only 22 quid and can usually supply a loan car and will give you a level of service far beyond a stealer. Here are the contact details Owner - Paul Mackie Firstdrive Cars 01569 766766 07801 856901 I hope this will benefit a few of you. Cheers Paul G
  17. Nice job joe, the car really suits those wheels.

    Tweaked S4

Met up with a friend who owns an S4 avant on Saturday and he very kindly handed me the keys for the drive to Aboyne (about 40 miles west of Aberdeen) .. :D He's not long had it chipped by AMD and I can honestly say its the fastest car I've ever driven. 2nd and 3rd gear is just eyewateringly fast and at the slightest opportunity I was dropping from 6th to fourth and passing slower (70mph) traffic at warp speed. On a couple of occasions we were sitting comfortably at "cough cough" mph. Seriously, this car would be a liscence loser as it does everything at under 5000rpm with no fuss whatsoever and apart from the large wheels could be any other Audi avant. I want one now!! The downside though is the same reason I want one. It does everything so competently and without fuss my heart rate didn't even jump a couple of beats on the whole run, even when we reached massive speeds. Yes it's fast but I would still have to complement it with a car that gave a bit more driver satisfaction. Now, a garage with the S4 and a VR6 in it....mmmmm!
  22. I've always thought the Corrado suits simple styled wheels rather than fussy ones. Much prefer the 5 spokes, nicely understated like the car itself.
  23. Its all a bit like tabloid journalism - you get the quality publications like Evo, Top Gear, Car etc then you get the likes of Max Power, Revs, Fast Car which sell to the young and dumber folk and cater for a specific market that does not ordinarily include or require decent research into a subject. Anything read in these I would take with a pinch of salt. On the plus side, articles like the one in fast car will hopefully help keep the corrado out of the hands of neds which in turn will help its reputation and ensure its still sought after by enthusiasts. my 2p worth.
  24. Nice one Roddy, I'll take a wander over and get all misty eyed and depressed about not owning one anymore. :(
  25. Yup, its the first car I can positively say I've missed owning and would have again at the drop of a hat......right then..... 6,11, 15, 22, 37, 39,
