  2. Hey andy, I'm up for a set as well......the full monty plug and play version. I did this for my old corrado a few years back...But was never happy with the connections. So well done to invest the time to gget it running perfectly have you any photos of progress?? nearly forgot...I'm on the otherside of the world, New Zealand, so postage could be a bit more. Keep it up.

  4. i"ve got an idea for a project that I'm about to embark upon and require a bit of input. I need to replace a suitcase muffler...So While i'm at it why don't I revamp the Whole system. Currently i have 4 devices in the exhaust system. the rear bos...the suitcase muffler..and two silencers...they all look to be factory. What I intend to do is Leave the front silencer..and the 2nd silencer...remove the suitcase muffler entirely and run the pipe through to the rear box. OR....and this is where it gets interesting Do the Whole lot from the manifold down. 2.25 in..merging into one...a bit longer than what is already there..have a coby.2.25in to where the Suitcase is now...Replace that with a coby...and then into the rear box. Does any one have any pictures of their exhaust system that They have done, that I can use for some inspiration/ideas...go on...show us ya fancy miltek system...or better yet..your hoem made job. now before you ask WHY?...i've got a bit of time coming up...need a project, and fancy working on my Welding skills. Look foward to your ideas.
  5. Had a quote to get it fixed $3-400, that about 170 pounds.....I think i can h=get a dash for half that. Am I right in thinking this is a regular 1990 Passat Dask.......I've a 1990 16v

  7. ....while removing the stereo some thieves have busted the dash...looks dam ugly now. i can get a replacement but ....how difficult is it to remove? has anyone done it.....and is there a procedure that i should follow...pitfalls to watch out fore etc. It's either that or get someone to repair it. I'm getting a couple of quotes for the repair this week...depends on cost, it may be better to actually replace the dash
  8. Sure do, But as most things are...it's sometimes cheaper to get stuff from the Uk. Are the lights a complete unit? or can you just replaxce the glass? Cheers

    cold starts

    Talking to someone the other day, he explained a possible cause to the cold start problem as this. he told me this when I said that it normally happens on damp,humid days. when a car is cranking over, especially when cold it requires a lot of juice to do so. As so much of the batteries juice is being taken to crank the engine, there is not too much to provide the 'spark'. and especially when the distributor is leaking oil, and a bit humid, the connections are not all that great and the spark can get 'lost' or what spark that is there is weak.. seems all very plausible, especially seeing that when i'm having problems starting it, I can crash start it no problems at all, drive around the block(500M) 2 mins tops. I can then stop it and it'll fire up all ok no problem. I've got a 16v kjet engine. anyone have any thoughts on this?? I

    cold starts

    No I think that the fueling is fine. it seems to me that the car does not know that it is cold and that it does turn on the choke to make it go. only i don't know how to check it all, where the sensors are and what the voltages should be etc......hence the need for some info about the 16v kjet engine. cheers

    cold starts

    Hi there. it's getting colder over here now and the C is having problems starting in the cold mornings. hasa happend twice now pretty much as described above. it will turn over, make a funny Wheezing kind of sound and then appear to stop and then start winding over again. it winds over fine but no firing.. i can keep doing this untill it starts to flatten the battery!! But i can crash start it straight away no problems, run it around the block, 2 mins tops. stop it and start it straqight away!!! and it will be fine for the rest of the day....untill the next morning. so this has got me to think that i need to check my cold start up system my warm up regulator, functioning of the cold startinjector. etc.....only i don't have any info about this. Does anyone have and info about the 1.816v Kjet injection system? perhaps in a PDF format.?? any help appreciated. regards

    No fire?

    Miune does this from time to time as well...Check the hall sensor under the distributor. if it ain't connectiing, it just won't go. I've used a zip tie to really bind it up as the clip is a bit bust.
  14. I had a problem with mine as well....water was being pumnped Ok but not at the screen but straight into the boot. On investigation i found that the Tube was old and brittle, cracked in many places... So I blocked it off in the engine bay. the best solution would be to run new tubing, that way you'll know that it won't break again....but it is well hidden and I'll be needing to remove carpets seats etc......so for the moment i'll just leave it blocked off on the engine bay. I'll be getting round to it soon. All i'm saying is beware of doing half a job.

    Headlight Mod

    Ok....I've been motivated by all the talk about headlight looms and i've gone and made my own. Can I just say...it's dam good fun and the results were better than expected.....can't wait to take it for a drive... But one problem....and this could be the whole 'dim dip' thing. when i turn the lights on the first click....normally a small bulb in the light will light up. but now the whole lot comes on so that there is no difference between the first click and the 2nd. How can I get this back? I've tried to find the 'dim dip' resistor but cannot seem to find it. anyone have any ideas??

Contacting germany....sonds to be a good idea, but how, who...i cannot speak or read german...as evidenced by my attempts to buy some bits og ebay.de. I could go through somewhere in the UK but by the time I add in some postage...it will likely be the same cast
  17. I've just been quotes $450nzd to get a new one here....it'll take 4 weeks as it ex germany. That equates to about 150GBP.......but I guess it's my only option...... I mean i could just keek cleaning it out...but if its just getting down into the hall sender and creating havoc.....I think I'll get a new one. Cheers though
  18. Hi there i've got a 1.8 16v (kr). The distributor is leaking oil, not heaps but some....ie after a few thousand km's the bottom of it will be all caked in oil and dust. i degreased it the other day, and now is clean again.. I went to the Dealership to ask about this and they say that it is a fairly common problem, BUT to fix it I have to replace the whole distributor!! or just wipe it out every so often. BUT....after I cleaned it I've been having problems with the HAL sender. I broke down a few times...and some times it wont start....the connector is really touchy I mean if I just touch it the CAR STOPS. The plug it self seems to be on hard but seems to come away and break contact at the momet. I'v zip tied it around the Dizzy to make it stable and then another zip tie around the plug to keep it in. So My questions are....can the seal be replaced?? (to stop the oil leak) If i buy a new Dizzy, does that get me a hew Hall sender as part of it? and how much???? all input appreciated.....thanks

  20. Hi There is the part number above the older VDO type? or the newer VR6 style? I went to the local VAG dealer today. They looked it up but all that they could tell me is that it is an obsolete piece of trim. If your are sue it is the older style VDO type, I'll order one tommorrow. Thanks..   21. It's a RHD. The one that I am after is one for 2 round VDO gauges. They look better i think, than the one complete one from the states which is a complete unit looks a bit strange. So.. Where can I get one.. H100VW....where did you get one? do you have a part number? and while I'm at it. Do you guy have an online parts order place that you trend to deal with? like some VAG parts dealer who ships world wide? *mod edit - Double post removed and moved thread to interior section - Henny*
  22. Hi There I have a 1990 1.8 1 to sdell it for6v corrado. It has been in New Zealand all off it's life. What i want to do is install some centre console gagues bplace it with is a but need the plastic insert. that will hold the gauges. What i have there at the moment is an original audio cassett stacker system. What i want to do is replace it with an oil pressure and a voltmeter gauge. I've seen a G60 with one in so assume it must be a standard VAG part. My question is, does anyone have one? know where i can get one? there is one on E-bay.com atb the moment from a 1995 VR6. but they are trying to sell it for $200+USD. any input appreciated. Cheers
