Does anyone actually know what the limit is for drinking and driving and not milligrams of alcohol in the blood, a rough guide to number of average pints of lageror units of alcohol, makes more sense, Its always a discussion between me and my friends recently between 1 unit and 5 units, on the assumption that 1 pint is 2 units. Any ideas? Lets try and keep all of us on the road. :) -

This has got to get the award for the biggest post in recent times, 17 pages and still going strong. Mucho respect to A20 LEE for creating something that everyone has an admiration for.

Pulled in to my cheapo local driving range on friday to be greeted by these two beasts. Thought my little rado fitted in nicely!

I know the noise, mine has just started doing it too. Would be nice to know what it is, mines more like a humming with a slight grumble.

Dont think airguns are good for the locking wheel bolt because of the high force of the impacts, it stresses the shape of the key, and they always give a little bit of play in the key so you can get it on easy which will be making the impact even worse. I wasnt impressed when the national tyres guy used it on mine, and then left the key on the nut for me to drive off in, until i asked where he'd put the key. Learnt a lesson to always check the work of the tyre fitter monkey.

Think everyone would agree we need to hear from the owner here, depends where he's filling up, what petrol he's using, what roads he's driving and at what speed. I seem to go through phases of seeing how fast the car will go, and handle, then the next day i'll be seeing how high i can get the mpg MFA to go, dont think i'll ever see the 40 mpg. But i find the mfa does slightly under read, so if its saying 32 i find its really bout 35. Going to admit now (in the hope that I'm not the only one  ) that am actually keeping a record of fuel receipts and plotting a curve of MFA to actual MPG to see if their is a linear relationship. OK I feel ashamed but its proving a constant linear at the moment so all good so far! Time to get ma coat!

I love the way that he's "detrimmed" the side, quality piece of workmanship!

It was my first ever VW, a bit of a knackered mk1 golf 1.3 cl in lovely mars red, but I loved it, I was driving a 1979 Series 111 Landrover before that, so the golf was like luxury compared to that. Why do you ask?

My 16 valve ISV seems a bit funny too, when unplugged the revs rise too bout 1400, and thats with the Co set at bout 1.5% and the idle screw fully wound in, dont know what to do to lower the tickover, with it all connected it sits at just over a 1000, which isnt too bad, but i thought that the rpm was supposed too drop with it disconnected.

Overtaken by an alloy wheel!! Been their done that, 80 mph on the m6 at j27! 8 miles from home, thing was it was the bearing that had collpased so it took the brake drum with it, so was left with not much braking and a hell of alot of sparks from the rear, somehow managed to get it to the hard shoulder and stop, got out to see what had happened, to be meeted with the sight of the hub glowing a lovely shade of cherry red! It only took three days of searching to find my wheel in the depths of the bushes along the hard shoulder, you wouldnt believe the amount of crap you find down there. But still I still do all my own car maintenance and have never lost a wheel since touch wood, youve got to learn from your mistakes, or you risk being taken oveer a barrel every time you go to a garage, which with a corrado is all too often.

I found out about the wing mirrors folding in last week, when I had some crazy fella on a motor bike come round a blind bend on the wrong side of the road, and amzingly somehow (the lucky bugger) we both managed to swerve and he missed my bonnet by an inch but clattered my wing mirror. Amazingly he managed to stay on! I thought my wing mirror was gonna be wrecked. But when i stopped it was just folded in with two small scratches in the plastic, it just folded back out and i checked that the electric mirror still worked. The guy on the bike stopped and turned round and gave me £20 for the damage, which isnt bad considering Ive been thinking about respraying them since I got the car (looks like they've taken a few knocks in the past). Cant believe how solid the corrado is. :)

I hate how the full beam blue dashboard light is so dull, that I keep on forgetting to dip my lights!

Andi, payment sent last night, brilliant website worth every penny, goes to number one on the list of best money spent on my corrado. Long live the forum! Andy

Saw H36 *** on the M6 North just past Lancaster bout 9.40 on Friday night, I was taking it real easy going for the impossible 40 mpg!!!! Got a wave off you as you roared past. First time I've been acknowledged in my corrado so it was embarassingly exciting! :D :D Gotta be someone in here.

Ive just changed the exhaust on mine from a scorpion stainless steel one to a standard one, as the guy I get my parts off could only get me the one with the pins, it took about 3 hours of lining up and meaasuring before welding on some home made hangars to fit my original hangars on the car. Maybe it would be a better idea just to change the hangars aswell if you can get the actual exhaust cheap off ebay. But the end result of mine isnt exactly pretty but it does fit well, and saved me bout £500 on the insurance (ridiculous!!!).

looks like a pin one to me, the hangar ones have a hooked end.

Well checked the earth cable on my headlight loom, all seems fine, if I unplug it from the relay it clicks and the headlights go out, just leaving the sidelights on, and the fogs are still on half brightness! And yes if i do turn the fogs on using the switch they do get brighter up to full power. Are their any other earths I should be checking, I know that its the brown wire on the original loom thats earth but that just disappears in to the cars loom. Also if I leave the loom unplugged and turn the headlight switch on to sidelights, the sidelights stay on but the fogs go off!! Its as if the fogs are getting a feed from the headlight switch! All the wires round the fogs look standard so I've kinda ruled out it being someone rigging the lights so they do this automatically, like you see on some Imprezas. Got me baffled this one!!! HELP!!

Havent had my C for all too long, and have only put it on the road this week, and have noticed that the front fogs are coming on at 'half' brightness with the headlights on dipped, they turn off if i'm only on sidelights, or if i turn on to full beam. Want to get this sorted asap as i'm sure it wont be long before i get pulled over and fined for this by the local plod. Have made my own uprated headlight loom, which seems to be working well. Could this be something that a previous owner could have done. Or have I been cutting the wrong wires somewhere. By the way my car is a 90 H plate 16v. Any help would be great before i start pulling at any more wires.

Dont worry mate. With the yellow being so bright you dont even notice the mud flaps! Am holding off putting pics of mine up, coz am worried bout getting slated for having a towbar on the back  But it does save me from getting any damge done to my rear bumper in car parks!!

I had a similar thing when i was a student in Bolton, and some scum broke in to my mk3 golf through the window just to root through an empty glove box. I heard the alarm and joked to my mates that it sounded like mine and didnt bother actually checking it out  It was four hours later when i returned to it i realised it was actually mine, plus this was on one of the wettest days in March so it soaked all my interior too!!! This was after I'd fitted armour door plates after some scally scum in Preston broke in through the door lock!!! All this to a crappy bright green 1.4cl golf, dread to think what not so nice attention my corrado's gonna get, Pager alarm is next on the list me thinks!

Any recommendations on a good glass cleaner to use on a windscreen as most of the ones i've looked at say not to be used on the windscreens.

Just come back from visiting my folks, they live up in Cumbria, little place called Alston in the hills, an absolutely amazing drive, think its on the list of top 5 roads in the country for driving, its the A686 from Penrith (Jct 40 M6) its a big hangout for the motorbikers but you do get all sorts of cars up there! Even a couple of Corrados. If any of you are ever in the area I'd say you'd be foolish not to drive, and theirs plenty of B&B's and pubs in the area too! :D
