  1. Does anyone have any recommendations as to insurance companies that'll like me! HIC don't, they won't touch me because i'm an unemployed graduate. Life with a C is proving hard and thats before i even drive it. Am trying to return it back to standard to help with the insurance costs also. Its only got some 15" OZ alloys and a Scorpion DTM stainless system. So anyone with standard 1.8 16v wheels and exhausts for sale give me a shout. Was thinking about trying brentacre, as I've read on here that their quite cheap, anyone got their number. By the way I'm 23 with 4 years no claims, and a clean license.
  2. Just the same in germany, my mum and dad lived in munich for a while, and cars were bumper to bumper everywhere, it just seems accepted, I saw people in 911's doing the bumper nudge, couldnt believe it. They must be a lot cheaper over there, maybe thats why german cars are built so solid.
  3. My mum got F444 KOF as a standard plate on a brand new white rover!! Got a few funny laughs when she used to come and pick me up from school though, would be good to hunt it back down!
  4. I really wouldnt advise putting any heat towards a fuel tank, even if emptied. As their will always be some fuel or vapours trapped in there somewhere, and it could result in the tank blowing up!!!! (I suppose a small explosion could push the dent out, but more likely just damage your raddo! Try explaining that one to the insurance company!!)
  5. I'd be interested in a cat bypass pipe for a g60 if the price is right.
  6. As Dr Mat said all power is, is the torque multiplied by the engine speed in rad/s. Thats why having a nice flat torque curve is best as it gives a solid increase in acceleration, as the power is increasing smoothly, as the engine RPM rises.
  7. In the haynes manual for the 16 valve engine, it says that on the 16 valve engine you should use a special tool to set the correct tension for the belt, has anyone ever done this and know how much the tool would cost from the stealers, or does everyone just stick to the 90 degree twist rule? Whats better tighter or slacker (the belt that is  ) as the 90 degree rule always seems to be a bit vague to me!
  8. Yeah, think my 16 valver needs the tensioner it sounds like theirs a big roar from the cambelt when revved. I've taken the cover off and the belt seems to have quite a large amount of play in it. How much would it be for new belt and tensioner? Is it best to get original stealer, or to just get any old replacement!
  9. Hi all, Just got my first corrado and it was advertised as having cat 1 alarm and immobiliser, but the certificate of installation is only for a cat 2 laserline transponder immobiliser, and the alarm/central locking fob has serpi star written on it, i've found the control unit for this under the glovebox and it has GR40 written on it (guessing that might be the model number) and it also has a 1990 sticker on it. What I dont know is what category of alarm is, and is it the factory fitted alarm? My car is a very late 90 H plate. Does anyone have any information on this alarm. I'd like to find a replacement case for the fob, but cant seem to find anyone with them. I know this doesnt make perfect sense but at the mo, i'm very confused about all of it.[/img]
  10. My pioneer changer was doing just the same, so I checked the earth and went to the extremes of soldering it all up after attacking the earth with a dremel. Still not working properly :x , so then ripped all the cable out and checked all over and wrapped it all up in more insulation tape to give it extra protection, still not working. After much hair pulling, and checking of all the connections, I was on the verge of taking the changer to pieces I remembered that their was an inline fuse just after the headunit end of the cable, and sure enough, it was semi blown, and every now and then it would skip off causing all power to be lost to the changer. Would have been a two minute job if i'd remembered to check the obvious first. Now any electrical prob my Corrado throws up i'm straight to the fuse box, unfortunately not all problems are that easy, but it stops you feeling a fool later tho! :)
  11. Have just bought my first corrado 1.8 16v. But before putting it on the road i'm sorting a few things out on it whilst selling my old car. Its come with a full stainless scorpion exhaust system on it, but i'm not a big fan of the twin upset tailpipes. I prefer something a little more subtle and quiete which still gives a nice deep tone without the loudness. Any recommendations, and ideas of prices and suppliers. Also does anyine know if i'd be able just to change the back box part rather then all of the system so as to save a few pennies!
  12. Graduate automotive engineer, but trying to find a job in this with no experience is far from easy, so going to move away and head in to the CAD design area of this as it seems its becoming a part of all engineering design compamies now! Earn a few pennies here and there fixing cars, and painting houses and things.
  13. My sister got done by exactly the same camera at tebay! Her speed was an almighty 79 mph with her being the only car on the road too! I told her not too sign the form but she didnt want any hassle and just took it on the chin, £60 + 3 points. Whats happened to the general rule of 10% + 2...... You'd think you'd be safe at anything under 80 mph in a modern car on an empty motorway.
  14. I avoid parking anywhere near the mother and child parking bays, as theirs no-one worse for putting dents in your door then an over excited kid flinging the door open, straight in to your pride and joy!
