1. Funny you should say that but I was sure my last VR6 had the ABS to the left of the steering wheel & thought they were all like that?
2. As you say it's an aftermarket, (VW dealer?) fit. Not sure why the switches are where they are but everything works. In fact the ABS has been a little temperamental. Possibly through lack of use or corroded ABS rings? On the 'to do' list.
3. The ABS light is there! To the left of the steering wheel, just out of shot. The switch next to the headlight switch is for the air con. It's got the Daivia system fitted. Still works too!
4. Thanks for the comments Matt. There's a lot going to happen to the car in the coming months so I'll keep the thread updated. Cheers, Steve
5. Just across the river Matt, in Ryton. Actually, if your looking for a Corrado I know where, locally, there is an 86k mile, 3 owner, Storm in green. Been off the road for a bit & needs recomissioned. Been painted (properly!) & is owned by an enthusiast. Think he might be selling.
6. Yes Andy I got the same result when I did a DVLA check. Strange result on the Golf!
7. I was in your position when I sold my 944 but then decided to lower my sights a little. mainly because I wanted a Mystic Blue Storm & there isn't a lot of choice! Your in the right place on this forum & buy a car off here if one comes up but I wouldn't get too hung up on the 100k mileage. Buy on condition, history & mileage, in that order & you won't go far wrong. The VR6 is a great car & find a good one & you'll love it. Good luck with the search!
8. Unfortunately the Corrado, just like any 20 year old car, can savage the wallet, just tackle the jobs as funds allow if that's possible. When it's all sorted, & it will be eventually, & your driving down a country or moorland road on a nice day it's all worth it.
9. Wayne, I've been following your thread with interest. I don't think the problems you have (still!) are that serious. Fix the broken bits & if it aint broke don't fix it! I'm sure we've all had moments like you at some point & setting the car on fire seems like an option. Keep the faith mate & well done so far. :thumbleft:
10. Since getting another Corrado I've been wondering what happened to my other two VR's. One Corrado & the other a Golf. The Corrado was bought from a lad off here back in 2008 I think. Can't remember his name but he was from the West coast of Ireland. The Golf was traded in locally for a Scooby. Anyway, here's a couple of pics. 11. OK, but early days yet! Here's another couple.
12. I think they are AP. I've no idea what condition or how long they've been on the car to be honest (they're very harsh!) but I will be selling them in a month or so along with one or two other bits. I'll get some pics up once they're off the car.
13. No regrets. The 944 was a really nice car & good to drive but I just feel more at home in a Corrado, if that makes sense? My Corrado is very tidy as it is but will be improved, given a bit time & some cash spent on it. Thankfully I have funds allocated, just don't tell the wife!
14. First real chance I've had to drive it since I bought it in January! Couple of quick pics pre body shop in a fortnight for front end & bottom half paint. Next get rid of the coilovers. nowt wrong with them just not my cup of tea. Will be returned to pretty much standard spec with Sachs gas dampers & -30mm H&R springs. Full service then ready to use for Summer.
15. You never see a Corrado .................... then you see three in one day! All in the Newcatle upon Tyne area. A red one on Walker road, a red VR6 on City road (pos the same car?) & a silver VR6 (I think?) on Scotswood Road. I've never seen one for ages in my neck of the woods hence my surprise.
16. Pagid ot Texstar are good. Forgot to mention also try your local TPS. I'm sometimes surprised how competitive they are......... sometimes I get a shock! The other thing with TPS, when you give them your reg. no. you know the parts will be spot on.
17. Eurocarparts has all the info you need. Just type in your reg. number & it brings up all categories specific to that car.
18. Focus RS. Lad I work with bought one two years ago & it is worth slightly more now as a trade in! MK4 Golf R32 a good call too.
19. Just found this thread. As some of you know I sold my very nice 944S2 to return to a Corrado VR6. Whilst the 944 is a great car & I liked it I didn't love it............ if that makes sense! However, I love my Corrado Storm. I also have an MX5, which Liam mentions. A MK1 & they really are a joy. Just so 'right'. Not a quick car but they feel great, with the advantage of Jap reliability & drop top motoring. I also love the MX5!
20. As per the title. I need a standard VR6 air box please. Must have all clips/fixings intact. Cheers, Steve
21. Tick that box. Get one! The VR6 was, is & always will be a great car. Well respected & rightly so &, if you find a nice one, you will love it. They still feel special. However, as you say, these cars are twenty years old so expect to spend to keep them right. I'm not surprised the cars you liked sold quickly. Good cars always have a ready market, but persevere & you will find one, Just have the cash ready & be prepared to view promptly. I missed out on two nice Storms as I didn't act quickly enough. Got one now though but will need a bit of time & money to get it how I want it. Good luck! :thumbleft:
22. That's a great question as I was wondering the same. What exactly is it that makes the ride height so high on the later VR6's? I've checked the spring & damper part numbers on EKTA with my local parts man on my current car, a 96 Storm, & my old 94 plate car. They are the same. So what is it that makes them so high? The parts guy reckoned it could be the bumpstops? One for the suspension experts on here!
