Is it safe just to top up coolant with tap water????
-
Got the lose tape! And NO, its NOT a selfie-stick LOL Leaking coolant? YES! Well this be the caused? But if it is shouldnt it just overheat engine at all speeds/rev? Not just stalled at 400rpm in neutral?
-
Took to local garage: They say if car fires up ok and drives ok (apart from stalling at slow down in nuetral) THEN the battery and alternator are fine
-
Got on this on my car! Looks decent - not sure how old or got full charge?
-
Cheers everyone :) Sean Cheers bud! See u Sunday! If i running a bit late - u know y!
-
Engine sounds ok? That piece of lose tape/cloth not cause is it???
-
Just to clarify again When key is position 2 on dash: 1. Battery light on 2. Handbrake light on 3. Oil lamp light FLASHING??????????????
-
Where is this exactly?
-
ALWAYS neutral, Stuart! Cant really keep my eyes on the dash and road at same time, But: 1. ALWAYS when slowing down 2. AND in the MIDDLE of changing down 3. AND always in neutral The EXACT SCENARIO seems to be: 1. Coming to junction (or slowing down)... 2. Nearly stop, depress clutch, neutral 3. Think the rev just dipping to 400rpm 4. Battery light flickers 5. Battery light All steps 3-6 in a split second ... 6. STALLED !
-
Hi Read so much about this problem on here, Golf forum, Pistonheads etc etc But there is no CLEAR definitivr solution :( :( :( It started to stall once every other day - Be it warm, cold, oil temp low or 100 degrees. BUT always when changing down towards a junction. The battery light comes on and if i rev it enough its ok. Else that split second the battery light comes on- it stalls :( Its done it EVERY DAY now for 3-4 days in a trot Now SIX times in a 60min lunch break :( Is there somewhere i can start with solidly? I read about - 1. Clean ISV 2. Check MAF 3. Clean throttle body 4. Reset ECU 5. Check all intake pipes... Help?!!!! :(
-
Cheers Jamie! Basically not even sure its the battery! Its my VR6 stalling when coming into a junction changing down :-( Its happened 6 times just this lunch time :( Will start a new thread to ask ...
-

Coming Sunday, mate! Picking up in person!

Cool! I ll do it when i feel brave and guarantee of indefinite dry weather for days! How do i test / check the drains? Where the water leave the car body?
-
Hi Only joined forum less than a week and IMPRESSED with the friendly welcome and fantastic help/tips from everyone :) I will be travelling down south from West Yorks (Valentine Sunday) and probably return either the Monday or Tuesday (1/2 term) - going as far as Bournemounth. Thought I return some favours if u want me to pick up / deliver anything (light / small) enroute? I do have my 2 boys with me too :) Thanks
-
Thanks! Not really sure if i want to attempt! :( Wot if i cant close the sunroof again
-
By the way Where does the sunroof water drain to via tube? I know my Prelude it drains to the boot wings where i removed the outlets and unblocked them
-
Cheers Andy But my sunroof dont work - so how do i check? :( Did ask seller at the time to show me how to open and how he closed it using an allen key/screwdriver (coz he said it only tilts on one side), but he said he rather not :(

Just did a quick Google on plates. It "seems" the law (include MOT): Requires 2001 format plates PLUS BS standard lettering PLUS supplier details BUT Classic cars pre-1973 exempt! And this is the grey area - what about cars made between 1973-2001??? Original plates maybe OK in pre-2001 format, But I guess plates made from 2001 will have to be in new format. So how does one/Police know if plates original?
-
Cheers Sean! But don't they also need name of supplier stamped on plates?
-
Cheers Tobz The seller real nice guy - I will still give him benefit of the doubt. Maybe I too nice! Plate wise - no idea! Came with car! But they are embossed! Not even sure they legal???!!! So stayed behind a police van with camera today - just in case he decides to pull me over! Lol
-
Oh And after re-assurances from seller that there are no leaks on car and deffo NOT from sunroof nor boot - i know these are NOTORIOUS issues/rust for old cars...i found: YES! After one car wash - the back of sun roof LEAKS! Inside wet from handbrake to rear ash tray! Now unless the seller never drove in wet and always park in garage, i am leaving me options open whether to return the car ... Will give the seller benefit of doubt But if i find major leak in boot as well then deffo considering the option! GRRRRRRR

Thanks Andy :) Just some final touches... For internal plastic/rubber: External trims: Exhuast:
