In fact here you go, that has 120k on it though but it'll give you a good guide. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9889&item=2484296585&rd=1

I've seen Golf 2.8 ones go for about £800-£900 on ebay... I'd imagine the 2.9s are worth a bit more though.
-
Haha, thought that might be your answer... can you not sneak it onto your wedding list along with the dinner services and crystal wine glasses
-
How about Supercharging\Turbocharging it instead of selling ??
-
Ah... i was under the impression it was pretty critical. Do the chains get distinctively noisy before they give up ?? or can it all just suddenly pop ?
-
To be honest, after what you've said i'd probably leave it and keep looking... Mind you I supppse it all depends on what sort of money he's prepared to take
-
Yes, if there's no bill for it then I doubt it wil have been done... I can't remember the exact cost but i'm sure its around the £500-£1000. maybe someone else can shed some light on this ?? Dan
-
If you'd of given me a bit more notice I could of taken you out in mine before hand! Offers still open if you want something to compare it with. Main thing you want to remember is the Timing chains that need doing at around 100k, if your in luck they may have been done already.... if not, budget for a hefty bill!!! Dan

Drove my mates N reg 993 carrera 4 the other day.... amazing cars!! The cornering is unbelievable.

I had the Zimmerman X-drilled disks with Pagid FR pads on my Golf 16v. Bought the lot from GSF can't remember how much but it was pretty cheap. To be honest I don't think i'd of been able to tell the difference between them and some new Std ones. They did look nice though :)
-
So you reckon its better just hanging on till the shocks need replacing then going down the -35mm, koni, hr route ?
-
Is it Bright Blue Metallic ?? one of the best colours along with oak green! looks like a mint car too 8)

I find the std setup on the VR6 to have quite a bit of body roll. Would I eliminate some of this if I fitted just a rear updated ARB ?? It has std suspension on at the moment and I don't really want to mess with that as its all good nick (only 53k miles on the clock).
-
I think your looking at the 0-100 time there, the 1/4 mile is down as 15.1.
-
Spoke to the owner and aparently it has all the MOT's since 97 (so thats a good start) Also i suppose if they are renowned for having faults that kinda explains things too... Hmmm, I think its worth the hour drive to check it out. No stamps in the log book, but pleanty of service bills. I do like the Ibiza's, just trying to find a good cheapish runabout.... the 'rado can then stay safely tucked away in the garage on crappy days and dreaded supermarket trips!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2483807003&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 Seen this Ibiza on ebay but I'm slightly concerned about the mileage... seems very low plus if you read further down he says the rev counter and fuel level indicator isn't really working properly... does this sound like the sort of thing that would happen if someone had the dash apart to clock it ??? Cheers, Dan

God I'm an absolute halfwit... Just took the car round the front of my house and both sides are the same now  I didn't realise such a slight slope could cause the suspension to be out so much just at the front! I suppose it must be the weight of the vr lump. Anyway, panic over now... many thanks for your help! Dan
-
Rears are spot on, exactly the same both sides.
-
sorry.... forgot to say, both seem to be exactly the same.
-
Right, jacked the car up and the spring wont budge at all so its not that. Shock seemed in good nick too with the protective rubber boot still in place. I checked the top mounts the way that dinkus suggested and I could get my finger in both of them. Could this be causing the problem ??
-
Hmmm interesting... what should all the tyre presures be ?? Just looked in the manual and it says 2.5 front and 2.2 rear. Looks like all my tyres need topping up then, hope this solves my problem!
-
Ah, thats the problem.... hehe Actually i think i've mixed up my offside\nearside..... its the drivers side shock, which ones that
-
Thanks phat, i'll jack it up and have a closer look at the spring.... The road are pretty bad around here and I have to drive down a bloody cobbled road to get to my house :x so it wouldn't supprise me if somethings broken! Can shocks fail but not be leaking anything ???
-
Just walked towards my car and noticed the front didn't seem to sit level... measured both sides from the top of the tyre to the bottom of the arch and the offside is 20mm lower than the other!! Its original suspension and has done 53600 miles and as far as I can tell the shock dosen't appear to be leaking at all.... Is this bad news ??? Cheers, Dan

Would be good to get together a load of articles onto a DVD. I seem to remember Deals on Wheels had a guy on trying to sell his Corrado VR6... I bet if you gather all the bits together you still only have about 15mins of footage :D
