  1. I've just fitted a new head (ported and polished myself and replaced valve stem seals) No problems with smoke on start up now! If you want to do it yourself you can, but it is time consumming! And you'll need another head of course. My only advice would be to replace the valve guides too. I was quoted £120 to replace mine (including the guides @ £6 each)
  2. Cylinder head is on, but still need to get my timing right! Replaced passenger sunvisor too Moved Bluetooth handsfree speaker to passenger side corner to try and reduce the stupid echo that people ringing in can hear! Audioscape sub box arriving tomorrow! Woo hoo!
  3. Does this method apply to a 2.0l 16v (9a)? Cheers
  4. How do you know where 6 degrees is? Red black wire? Do you need to disconnect this to time it up? Could you do me a picture of were this wire is? Cheers dude!
  5. Fitted ported/polished cylinder head to the car on Saturday, along with a replacement passenger sunvisor curtosy of dubbprince.
  6. Going to go and buy a timing gun from Halfrauds this evening and time it up! Any idea how much advance I should be running? And also do I just use the crank timing mark, or is there somewhere else in the engine that gives me a way to set the degrees accurately? Not done it before, soneed a bit of advice (as per usual!)
  7. 2.0l 16v and all the original sensors are connected...:? Not been set up properly yet, getting that done on Saturday hopefully.
  8. Right guys, I need your help again! Changed my cylinder head on Saturday for a polished/ported version, replaced all gaskets etc and did oil change and obviously replaced coolant. I did 250miles yesterday, mostly motorway driving at around 80-90mph, and my water temp is now probably about 5 degrees higher than it was, but my oil temp now rises to 130degC! It never really got over 120degC before, and there are little bits floating around in the coolant expansion tank. I didn't flush the coolant system (probably should have done) Why is it running hotter? Should I be worried? :? By the way, it goes better! :)
  9. Many thanks to dubbprince for the sunvisors
  10. I second that! The Audioscape door pods are sh1t hot If you rear shelf hasn't got holes in it, I'd recommend that you find one that has, as its quite a saleable item if it is unmolested!

    R1 or Lysholm?

Personally I'd go fo a BBM/Lysholm. I love G60's, but the BBM/lysholm is seen to be a lot more reliable, and more efficient. You can get the BBM/lysholm in a kit form to directly replace the G-lader too. The only shocker is the cost, but hey its only money after all!!!

    Alloy Wheels ?

I've got 9 x 16 Borbets ET15. The rim is less than 10mm from touching the rear axle, so I wouldn't think that ET25 would fit :?

  16. Tinted the tops of my lights red last night 8)
  17. Erm...not a chance! Just wanted to tint my windows so people can't see me!!!!
  18. Well, since I put those Borbets on my C, soooo many people look at the car! It's getting kinda embarrasing....   Going to tint my windows I think....

  22. I work at a company who designs engine managment software, and obviously there are a lot of guys here who have a multitude of automotive experience. They have suggested that the inlet ports want to be very smooth to increase gas speed. This only really applies to port injection engines as fuel atomisation is good anyway. For carburettur engines, the surface wants to be ruffer, to provoke a more turbulent air flow to improve the fuel atomisation. Another thing that was mentioned was the edge between the two ports, shouldn't be too sharp, as the air flow will hit that and bounce sideways! I'm going to soften the edge off, but leave the rest polished, I think. 8) To be fair I prefer a lot of different peoples input anyway. I'm going to stick the head on anyway and see what happens! It only another head gasket and some head bolts if it isn't right anyway :?
