Finally finished the polishing...its not perfect but its a lot better than it was. Next stop lapping in the valves. will be doing that next week 8)

I know a company that can get rid of the feature that requires the Mask-key, unfortunatly they are in Shrewsbury (Les Evans and Son - 01743 450457 IIRC) New Mask keys are definately about £80 and are unique, had to get one for a customer a while back. Not a lot you can do unless you either get a new Mask key or get the feature permanently removed!

I've done the same too! Did it with a marker pen first...looked ok, but decided to do it properly and used some hammerite satin black! It's a good cheap mod!

I'm replacing the valve stem seals, but not the guides. As far as I can tell the guides are ok. I couldn't do the guides myself anyway, but the seals aren't a problem! Oh and another mbile phone pic....not in focus, but mmmm shiny

The hardest bit to get a good finish on is the just inside the valve seats and around the corners on the valve end. Pain in the bum to get a smooth finish! More pics are on there way, hopefully by Friday, when porting/polishing should be finished!

Cheers dude! Special tools - valve spring compressor, which is borrowed of a mate, but bought from Bennets (motor factors) - magnet on a stick or a magnetic screwdriver to fetch the collets out once you've compressed the springs I've been using a dremmel and wet and dry sandpaper mostly. It's taking bloody ages as well! I've been doing 1-2 hours a night 3-4 times a week, and I've been doing for a month or two! It gets easier though! As you get the nack of doing it! Should be finished ready for the valves to be lapped in next week! Woo hoo!

I run a component kit in the front and one sub in the boot off an Audison five channel. Front end running active i.e. 4 channels driving two tweeters and two mids. Its up to you but the advice given by Kev and Henny is as good as you are going to get to be fair. The only reason I went for a five channel is space and price, but given my time again I would have gone for two amps, one 2-channel and a sub amp. I work for a SMC Sound and Vision in Shrewsbury (free ad. 8)) selling car audio equipment and fitting, and my advice is more often than not to plump for 1 component kit in the front + sub(s) in the rear with two amps. (unless its a Lotus Elise of course!!) And my favourite line is.... "Why do you want to put speakers in the back? You wouldn't go to a concert and stand with your back to it, would you?" :lol:

Just a few updated pics of the porting/polishing, nearly there now....unfortunately pics are taken with my phone! :roll: Managed to get a reasonably good knife edge on the inlet and have been told that polishing the combustion chamber makes a difference! 8)

Anyone suggest where to get two new wing mirror glass from? Didn't know if it is still available from the stealers or not. The salt got into mine over winter, and they look sh1t!
