Did change the discs as well? If not you may have glazed the pads, if you were a little over zelous with your braking before they're bedded in??

Will a 16v mk2 golf 4 branch manifold fit a valver?
mrbeige replied to cardboard's topic in Engine Bay
If its a 2.0l 16v, then no, as the flange sits further back IIRC. If its a 1.8l then yes is should as the 1.8 doesn't have a CAT. -
Jim, I'll have to agree with you on that one! That's soooooo cool :afro:

Superb work as always Nathan. Particularly loving the E28 M5, always had a soft spot for them!

The thing is dude, not everyone has a huge amonut of expendable cash, and I think you don't necessarily have to spend a schitt load of money to produce a decent result. I'm not saying that using secondhand parts is the right way to do it, it's just I think using OEM parts uses a bit more of your initiative and engineering skills. I can't afford to go out and spend £400 on a new trubo , when I can get the same result from spending £50 on a Cossie trubo off ebay and refurbing it. Its just a differnet approach. I'm also not looking to gain just 50bhp, that'd be a complete waste of time. I think 250-300 bhp is realistic, and as a start would be quite a good result. I'm new to all this stuff, so wouldn't want to spend god knows how much on low comp pistons, blue-printing, ballbearing turbos etc etc, for me to make a mistake and blow the engine up. Its a learning curve which is pretty steep as it is, so firing a load of money at something your a novice at doesn't make sense to me. I want to learn as much as possible, and mistakes are always made in the process and if they cost as little as possible then great! [/2p's worth]

Well, fair play to the guy, that's pretty impressive....makes me think I should do a video like that too. Should imagine its pretty quick on a straight line, but wouldn't expect it to go road corners. Someone may correct me on the handling characteristics of Corsas though
-
So how would the possible power output of a Cossie T3 turbo compare to that?
-
any idea on how easy they are to refurb??
-
Well, I can understand completely! Not that I've ever parted with a Corrado. I toyed with the idea of selling mine, but could never bring myself to do it. Even mrsbeige has said that a can't sell it!

The standard intakes are 42mm, gut the first of the Golf 16v had the larger 52mm IIRC. The difference will be that the 42mm gives a better torque but worse top end and the 52mm does the opposite.
-
So, what OEM turbos would be suitable for a 16v turbo. I've been told Cossie T3 turbos are a good choice. So what else could be used?
-
I'm pretty sure the VR one is bigger. :?

I did, and yes id does amke a difference, but is a total pain in the ar$e at MOT time, so I put the CAT back on....

To be honest, quality pics would do it for me! I think the concensus is that it is/has changed, but are unsure if the content of the mag has improved, i.e. less of the soft porn and more of the hard car porn, if you catch my drift. I've not bought Max Power for about 7 years or so, as it just ended up being a load of stupidly modified Paxo's and Cursa's, but given that the cover car of the last one saw (about a week ago) was some sort of tuned Bentley GT, I think the content may have improved somewhat. As long as they don't have those stupid 'cruise' articles with a series of pig ugly fat biffa's in showing there mammories that would make me think more about buying it! Where did they see your Goof anyway dude? At an event? Did they come up and ask you to have it featured?
-
Your wish is my command.... Oh, and I've heard that Max Power has upped its game rather, the front covers certainly look a lot more up market.
-
Neil, why don't you remove the ash tray and ciggie lighter and put the stereo in there? I did this on mine when I had the two head units. It does fit, but it requires a slight trimming of the bottom two corners of the stereo surround.
-
The one I've got has 2.5" inlet and outlet, so fairly hefty! Be interesting to see if it will fit. I hope so, it was free after all!
-
Jesus dude, you had a spot of bad luck there didn't you? Glad it's sorted, and fair play your Corrado looks stunning. Those wheels are :afro: What make are they?
-
24V Renshaw did it here, so worth a look. You do have 89 pages to go through though
-
Does the same apply for MAP based engines? I'm assuming not as the reading is post throttle?
-
Well, I've acquired couple of things in the last few days. Found a 2E engine curtosy of Toad and an brand spanking new Sprinter LT intercooler 'buck shee' off a mate. The intercooler looks a bit like this.....do you think it'll fit and be suitable for a 16v turbo?? Also updated the first post.... :)
-
Ah cheers dude! Not really been that interesting to be fair, was promised loads and haven't really seen any of it! Maybe the risk of being made redundant might force my hand and look for a new job!!
-
Yup, moisture will be the culprit I'm sure, it was on mine!
