  1. I dip in there from time to time, the thing is some of them are so far up the admin's arse it's unbelievable. Just post a pic of a modded MX-5 and wait for the sparks to fly ;) Some of the guys on there are very funny, but a lot of them just think they are unfortunately...
  2. Yeah, the rocker cover stands out like a sore thumb but you're right, there's something else. Sadly I no longer have one to check, but it looks like the fan cowling is different (could just be the different angle though - I'm used to looking straight down into the engine bay, not from that camera viewpoint :) ).
  3. PS - rear wheel lift at what looks like around 60-70mph (at least)?? Good man :)
  4. Possibly - on the speedo . Oh Christ...can of worms...! Mine did an indicated 80 at 3-and-a-bit thousand RPM so it seems OK to me? I also have 2 of the original mags (Car and Autocar) that stated 140 as well... (My mate and I bought G60s at the same time and he had 155 on the speedo on his down the local bypass, so 140 seems reasonable - can we leave the worms there?!?! ;) ) Anyway...must get onto Paypal. Brilliant! And go to 1:32...that sound as he pulls past the camera...I want my old car back!!!!!!
  5. Nice to hear you finally saw the light (again) :) Surprised it took so long! I've had my Mk4 GTI 180 a week (exactly!) and although I love the performance, economy, mint paintwork, unkerbed factory wheels, climate control, and being only the second owner - it's not the same. But then I knew it wouldn't be (in fact, to be honest I like the Mk4 more than I expected to, my "sensible" car has turned out to be more fun than I thought :) ) You know you'll have to win big on the lottery to eclipse the Corrado :) (was speaking to my neighbour tonight, he said his brother came down the other week in his flash Merc, parked up behind my G60 and went into the house and raved about it - apparently he'd had one from new and never lost the love :) )
  6. Good grief, if the Corrado and Mk1 weren't doing well then it wasn't exactly a "cool wall" was it...?!? Sounds a bit...well....was the new Beetle popular as well...? In pink...? :D Must go and vote...!
  7. C*** of the month as well! :) (the guy saying it, not Del!) Reminds me of GTI International about 10 years ago - Kim Collins sport Quattro had just pinged up the 1/4 mile, some lad turned round to his mates (Westside, most likely...) going "Check da profile! Check da profile man, wikkid!" as he did that annoying hand-waving finger-clicking thing. There were about 5 of us standing next to him who just collapsed with laughter at that point, he didn't understand why. One of my mates has no shame and just danced around shouting "Check da profile! Check da profile!" until the guy walked off in confusion :)
  8. Nice :) You won't see my Corrado around Ludlow any more I'm afraid though - had to sell, couldn't afford to run 2 cars :( Needed something "sensible" for work - either take the company tinbox (probably an Astra) and pay through the nose on tax, or take the allowance and sort something else out...
  9. Sorry Rodders, I was referring to the early reviews of the Corrado - "The People's Porsche" as Car magazine called it (or at least I think it was them) :) It was down to them having it up against the 2.5l 944 - the G60 and 944 were pretty much neck and neck in terms of performance. As I remember it, the G60 was quicker round the corners but the 944 was more fun :)
  10. It's also the first time I've seen a photo and thought the 'rado looks a bit dull - but then, almost anything would look dull next to that :) Nice car mate. Sorry to hear about the sad circumstances leading up to it, but a wise choice there. The sort of car you can keep forever (and, if you're anything like me, you probably will!). Like everyone else I'd love to own a 911 one day - can't see it happening unles my numbers come up on the lottery but hey, you never know. At least I owned a People's Porsche for a few years :)

    CAR TAX

I think the same. Christ, we spend enough on fuel tax anyway, why do we need an annual flat fee. As far as I'm concerned, what you spend on fuel has a direct correlation to not only how much you use the roads but also how much you pollute. I would also like to see a government-backed third-party insurance scheme wrapped into fuel prices as well. Not only would - well SHOULD - that reduce our premiums by removing the third party liability, it means that any **** (insert 4-letter expletive of choice) who chooses to drive uninsured is still, by paying for fuel, actually insured for any damage/injury to third parties. The only financial loss is their own. Well, it's a good idea in theory. I'm sure there would be loopholes to close...but it doesn't sound beyond the wit of man. Beyond the wit of chav, but not man.
  12. Hehe, good man :) Me? I'm just a dirty old man. Keep the pics coming :D
  13. Hang on, hang on - can we get back on-topic and find out more about these pics of the underneath of the girl? ;)
  14. Looks like most of the work has already been done on that front!
  15. Nice - got an old-skool feel about them (despite not being 13" and protruding 3 feet outside the arches :) )
  16. Hmmm, for some reason I'm thinking they'd look better in black...
  17. Blimey - perfect timing. I waved goodbye to mine about 2 hours after this was posted, now I get to own a Corrado again :) :) :) :) :) :)
  18. Now that's class! I reckon that's an affordable way back into (partial) Corrado ownership. Anyone going to take it one step further and slam the seat on a set of 5 caster-bearing 18" BBS? :)

    FECK

I'll stick around if you will! Sold mine as well, yesterday evening...it's not a good feeling, is it? I needed to win the lottery so I could keep it, the right bloody balls never came up, dammit :(
  20. Ouch...glad to hear you walked away. One of the reasons I figured higher mileage = need for a newer car - I reckon in my sales job the chances of something like this happening are starting to climb uncomfortably quickly, and if it happens I'd rather be in something newer with airbags all over the shop. I guess it puts the difficult sale into perspective - if you'd flogged it before and been tempted back into a Corrado things could have been much worse. Things often have a way of turning out for the best!
  21. No probs about the questions - we've all got them! I think people only get irate when off-topic questions start rambling on for several pages ;) And the ride is fine on mine, probably because it's all standard :) I know what you mean about selling the C for the "sensible" option. I just did a 150 mile round-trip tonight to see a Mk4 GTI (180bhp model) in Dorset which I think I'll probably buy (got to sleep on it first to decide). Got back to my hotel (down in Winchester this week) and felt absolutely gutted at the thougt of selling my C. We've been together 6.5 years, through my divorce and out the other side, and it just seems a bit sad! I couldn't see myself getting emotionally attached to many cars, but I have been to my C and my Mk1 GTI before that! Can't afford to run 2 cars though....:(
  22. Hi Turbogirlie - yeah, it was nice to "meet" you too! Always brings a smile to my face when you get the wave/flash from other Corrado drivers :) Facelift models came out of the factory with what is normally known as the "VR6 bonnet" - where the central section is raised (or bulged) rather than indented. Also they had the 3-slat grille, different bumper designs (flush indicators, different swage lines) and apparently wider arches (although I can't say I'd noticed). There may have been other standard-fit items at the time - mine came with factory ABS as well, whereas my mate's '91 G60 didn't.
