  1. As has been said, unfortunately the fact that people put up with LHD exclusive cars (such as some Porsches over here, or TVRs over in Germany) doesn't stack up when you've got RHD Corrados available over here :( You're best off keeping it anyway - having seen your car, and having had the shiny new fuel tank straps pointed out to me ("I replaced them because they looked a bit rusty"!!!) I doubt you'd find another one that had been so well looked after! I think "fastidious" is the word :) Why not put it on a limited mileage policy and just use it for continental blasts down the autobahn? :)
  2. Mine never did that..? Unless I just didn't notice :)
  3. No way - if the back windows went down it would be nicer in the back, if it was nicer in the back your mates would want a lift more often, if your mates are in the back the car's heavier, if the car's heavier it doesn't go as fast - especially not if one of them has the window down and creating more drag! So, you see, the design was in your best interests :) (Oh, and they don't go down in the back of a 3-door Golf either!)
  4. I don't understand all the comments about crap steering to be honest - I always thought that was one of the best bits!
  5. I thought it was just because some led harder lives than others :) I did notice the difference though - my mates newer, lower-mileage VR6 was a right clattery bugger compared to mine. To be fair, mine was never rattly (well, not that I noticed, but I had come from a Mk1 GTI :) ). As for gripes: 1. They stopped making them. 2. I can't afford to run one as a weekend car. 3. Door handles. 4. If you even THINK of taking the driver's door card off, the wing mirrors stop working. 5. Ermm....running out of ideas...
  6. yep once car stuff all gone ill be working on the job side of my life Yeah, well I just spent the last 2 years working my arse off on the job front only to just have gotten blown out on a decent pay rise because of some procedural cock-up (not by me, I must add). So not best chuffed at the moment.
  7. Yep, I agree. If they put one out with a huge driveable turbo on it with the potential for massive power, they'll kill off all their own aftermarket tuners!
  8. A life...? I dream of having a life...it seems you can't have a job and a life at the same time...:(
  9. I guess it probably could be used to hike the power up, as you could use a bigger badder turbo without any of the usually-associated downfalls :)
  10. Fair point about the engine swap - and no need for any apologies :) I hope he's not taking the p*** and expecting you to drop the price just because he wants to perform an engine transplant! :)
  11. yep he did say that but the guy sounded like he was more of a turbo guy so i guess he had a vr6T 20vT or mayve 24vT in mind maybe even a 16vT but dont get me wrong since driving with the G60 lump is very smooth and torquey from very low done but no offence here is no way as much fun/feel as a 16v IMO I might be wrong but never been a huge fan of 8v for the fun side of life I just see them as a sensible option Also Dinkus thats the most stupid thing ive prob seen on that ebay god where do these people come from ??? That wasn't the point (can of worms, more like!) I was making - it just sounds odd that someone would see an ad for a G60, then phone up to tell you he wouldn't be happy with a G60 lump. It's like phoning up someone selling a red car and saying yeah, nice car, but I wouldn't be happy with it in red - why bother ringing?!?!
  12. One guy phoned you up to tell you he wouldn't be happy with a G60 lump?!?
  13. Not in bloody Whistler in January it wasn't - it was proper rain! :(
  14. Well in that case keep the C, put it on a limited-mileage policy, and buy a 500 quid Corsa diesel as a runabout :)
  15. Would like to see it going up the sprint at GTI International. Would also like to see it tackle the slalom :D [off-topic] Assuming they still run the sprint and slalom...it's years since I went! I remember the old days at the TRL, when they had to suspend the sprint because some pillocks kept climbing over the barriers and crossing the sprint as a short-cut to the car park  But then, they did only have those temporary waist-height barriers between the crowd and the track, and close enough almost to touch the cars as they went past - can't imagine that happening these days! [/off-topic]
  16. I sold my C and got a Mk4 GTI 180. Nice, comfy, quick, climate control, blah blah blah, but not a patch on the C in terms of driver enjoyment nor do I think "what a gorgeous car" when I get in it every morning. However, on long runs for work I'm getting 7mpg better out of the Golf, so it's paying for itself already. I knew what I was getting into when I bought it, but since I opted out of the work company car scheme I had to get something newer. Even if I'd taken a 1.6 Astra as a company car I'd have still been paying so much tax on it that the C would have had to go anyway. One day I hope to have enough cash (and a driveway!) to make owning another C viable again...
  17. Looking forward to seeing those pictures...!
  18. Ouch! Still...it was only a (5-door!) replica of A7 UFO, so it could of been worse ;)
  19. Fantastic! Did something similar in my G60 last year - up to Oban, across to Mull, around Mull, then across to Inverness, then to Aberdeen via Aviemore, around the Aberdeen area then back home. Great great roads up there as well. If I had the money I'd have never sold the Corrado (or my Mk1 GTI), as nice and "grown up" as the Mk4 is, it will NEVER be a patch on either of those two :(
