its so easy - a chip that fuels to 1.4bar is only £100 :D
-
not sure why the thumbnail has waht looks like an ERST in it :(
-
pic1 - say T25 vs T4 - T25 less lag but runs out of puff pic2 - 2 x T25s with different boost limits - both spool to say 10psi the same but one goes on higher. Id not say the other was more laggy. it implies its a negative thing when its not at all. pic says 1000 words and all that
-
I didnt say they spooled up quicker the only factor in spooling up time I can think of is mechanical (i.e. bigger turbo, making it a hybrid etc)
-
Ive ran both T25s and T28s and can safely say that neither was laggier on higher boost. if your two limits are 10 and 20psi (for the sake of arguements) then the turbo will still reach 10psi in the same time before the boost controller opens the wastegate so I dont see where the lag comes in? If anything you would get a stronger 10psi running higher boost as the waseagate just doesnt snap open at X psi but is a gradual opening as the pressure increases. (as what aposegil says).

Thank you x 2 8)
-
in that case its not such a bad thing as you are going higher anyway so no problem. after X seconds you are still at the same boost but with more to come :D
-
it cost me nearly 3k in engine work :( I was just waiting for it to blow again so couldnt enjoy it.
-
he said to ignore the little peak at the start but the rest is ok. the 195lbft is mikes btw - same road same day etc.
-
my rover turbo had a T25 hybrid and ran at 18psi all day long. was MIGHTY fast! how does more boost = more lag? using a bigger turbo to create more boost will surely give more lag but simply raising the boost limit shouldnt Id have thought.
-
the RR guy said to ignore that - he gave a reason but I cant remember what it is
-
10psi - b0ll0x to that ;) get it up over a bar at least :D
-
thank goodness - too many folk see the gain knob as volume then wonder why their 6x9s explode ;)
-
Storm, same procedure for all speakers. the gain should go to min first then be brought up. Gain is NEVER NEVER EVER a volume control!!! Its used to match the outputs of the HU to the inputs of the amp or you get CLIPPING (making an AC signal amost DC - not good). if the sub is overpowering the rest of the system then by all means take the gain down but never ever push it higher or you WIILL fry speakers. most HUs have some sort of bass boost so Id use that rather than the amps one. If you do use bass boost then the gain will need to be set again.
-
be caresul with the gain. turn it to min. turn HU to nearly max (80%ish before it distorts) play some bassy music then turn gain up slowly until the speakers struggle then back off a little
-
bass eq - ignore. boosts the bass basically LP filter - controls the frquency cutoff point for a sub. 80-100 is a decent level. it makes sure the sub is only playing bass and not vocals etc.

did he buy you dinner first Henny? ;) -
100-200 for a second hand controller - loads of options (greddy, apexi, hks etc) so see what the guys at stealth reckon :)
-
i wonder is the chip helping out at the top end?
-
an electronic controller could be a good option. not only can you set the boost but you can set the sharpness which will make the boost come on harder and stronger. makes for a very interesting drive :D

been doing some comparisons to Crazymarcels bhp: 3k 167bhp vs 162bhp -- OK 4k 188bhp vs 183bhp -- OK 5k 193bhp vs 185bhp -- NOT SO OK torque: 3k 90lbft vs 90lbft -- OK 4k 140lbft vs 140lbft -- OK 5k 190lbft vs 170lbft -- NOT SO OK however now the anomoly seems to be in the 5-6k region. marcels keeps rising whereas both mine and mikes tail off quite noticably. now Im thinking my car is fine and Mikes mods just work REALLY well together but it would seem we both have some issues up at the top end which is why our peak is lower than marcels. of course all this depends on the mods marcel has done.
-
Crazymarcel, what mods have you?

Ive had things take 1month+ but its very much the exception. In contrast my carbonio took 3 days to get here from the US.
