  1. How much work is needed to get the E30 bmw ducts to fit?

Not too much actually, you need to sand down the edge so it fits flush to the bumper and join it to the indicator. (obviously you would need to spray the BMW scoop too)

Thanks for the tip, just got me a set for a fiver from egay! 8)

Seems it is catching, just picked up a set for the same sum from eBay 8)

  2. Afternoon all,

Not sure if I am keen on my Riger grill and eyebrow anymore so am going to try a 3-bar debadged effort which I had before on my old white G60 (although never had to buy one, it came as a spare). I want to get a decent quality one, none of this cheap eBay brittle plastic efforts. I believe some have an almost textured-like finish ?

So my question is to those that have got them / purchased in the past, which company does the decent quality ones ?

    Cheers

  3. With such a powerfull and well spec'd G60 engine being replaced the last thing I expected was another 8v with G lader. However good to see you are staying faithfull to the original, surely you can't get significantly more power than the last one? but you can't beat the reasurance of a fresh build.

Looking back, I would have liked to go 16VG60, but ultimately I had made the decision by that point to stay 8V and I had been collecting & hoarding parts for nearly 3 years for this specific goal. No your right, will probably only see another 25-30 BHP but with all the extra mods should see a good increase in torque. Plus agreed, I have the added peace of mind of a fresh build etc, with all new parts, resulting in what is essentially a complete new engine.

Additionally, brakes, suspension etc. are all new, in fact, most parts used are either new or refurbished.

  4. Some more pics of other tasty additions 8) :

  5. I thought they were going on the MK2 and the THs were going back on the C?

I can't keep up with your wheel changes

The MK2 would be 4x100PCD though would it not ?

  6. Before I bought my bulbs I found on another forum a letter (late2009) from VOSA stating you can use white or yellow beams, mine has always passed its M.O.T. fine

Technically, as bulbs and film to change the beam to yellow are not actually part of the headlight, I'm pretty sure if they were being anal enough and knew that it wasn't OEM they could probably do you for it, but yes, you should be alright.

But as I said, it's a bit of a grey area.

  7. Would need to be done using film, unless you can find lenses / lights from France ?

    See the following links:

    http://yellowheadlights.co.uk/

(Video guide for application of films)

It also appears that there is some uncertainty regarding the legality of having yellow headlights, see here:

The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989

    SCHEDULE 5

REQUIREMENTS RELATING TO OBLIGATORY MAIN-BEAM HEADLAMPS AND TO OPTIONAL MAIN-BEAM HEADLAMPS TO THE EXTENT SPECIFIED IN PART II

    7. Colour:

    White or yellow

    But then:

EU law states that since 1995 all head and side lights MUST be white

    Then there is this:

    SI 1989 No. 1796 said:

The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989

    SCHEDULE 2 (Regulations 18 and 20)

    PART I

REQUIREMENTS RELATING TO OBLIGATORY FRONT POSITION LAMPS AND TO OPTIONAL FRONT POSITION LAMPS TO THE EXTENT SPECIFIED IN PART II

    7. Colour:

White or, if incorporated in a headlamp which is capable of emitting only a yellow light, yellow.

However, if headlight has been made yellow using film, then technically if the yellow film can be removed it's not legal.

Bit of a grey area I think.

  8. Some new pics of work ongoing on my rado. Am undecided on the colour of the wheels though, maybe because they are such a contrast to the body-colour ? Possibly dark anthracite / grey would look better ?

    Comments welcome.
