  1. TBH, don't know if temp goes above 100 deg as she never runs for longer than about 20-30 mins at the moment and I take it the fan should just come on when running above certain temp, then stay on for a little bit after ign switched off, then swich off itself after this ?

How would I know if the sensor in the header tank / coolant reservoir is dirty and needs cleaning, can this be removed easily and cleaned ? Which sensor are you talking about, the blue coolant temperature sensor (CTS) - not sure where this is located or the coolant level sensor - which I thought sat in the header tank ??

Does the header tank only have a level sensor, a temp sensor or both ? And if so how is each one removed and cleaned ? Also, how do you test if they are dead / need replacec etc ?

    It's a 1992 G60 if that helps any,

    Cheers

  2. Hey all,

I have been getting an intermittent temperature warning light (I think it is anyways, red light flashs on and off next to a thermometer symbol, on bottom bit of instrument cluster, with other warning lights) on the dash over the past wee while, sometimes stays on for ten mins then off, recently has started flashing around 30 secs after car is started and stays flashing on and off constantly, until ign is switched off. Start her up again and the same light starts flashing after about 30 secs of running.

Is this light for overheating / temp too high, is is for the water level or what else e.g. pressure loss or some other cooling system problem ? I have just checked the coolant level prior to running her for the first time in about 8 weeks and it was bit low but only at the min mark on the header tank, so topped up and am still getting this light flashing though. I have topped it a wee bit over the past 4 months but only like twice, as she has only done about 150 miles in this time. Could it be a sensor or prob with water pump ? Also the temperature gauge seems to be working properly, i.e. rises gradually, as it should, then goes up to about 90 deg after running and stays fairly constant.

Am stumped with this one and don't want to run her if there is likely to be a major issue here, so any help much appreciated,

    Cheers,

  3. Don't think there would be a chance that a VRT (unless it has something silly like 500BHP and 4wd) would beat a current B7 RS4 TBH. Audi figures are 0-60 in 4.8secs, but apparently several independant tests have shown it can achieve it in around 4.2secs, and if de-limited can push 180MPH+. Also just found out that you can get a new B7 RS4 in the US for just £34,000, which takes the pee really as they cost around £54,000 here in the UK........

  4. Hey all,

Just bought a set of BBS RKII split-rims, but on closer inspection have found that one of them is missing a split-rim bolt, that secures outer to inner. I was just wondering if any of the wheel-gurus' knew which type of bolt I required, i.e type / pitch / head / length etc ? It looks like an allen-head bolt but has a star shaped inner. I'll need to get hold of a replacement ASAP so any info is much appreciated, apparently ech bolt has a reference number on it but not really wanting to take one out just to get this.

    Cheers,

  5. No pics of her on the Porsche Turbo splits at mo, will try and get some up soon. And not sure of the exact paint-code but it is reasonably dark blue. That said I have not seen another corrado painted in Subaru Sonic Blue metallic before, closest I have seen is flusted's on here, which is painted in the R32 blue, close but slightly different.

Assuming my Brembo's will fit behind these new wheels, the Porsche Turbo splits MIGHT be up for sale in a few months time, depending on how I take to them when I fit the new BBS RK's on for over winter, I might just keep them on for good.

  6. For a mint set of Corrado electric RECARO's, you looking at the best part of at least around $2000-$2500 shipped I'd say......cheaper and prob also easier (logistically at least) to find a set of RECARO's electric subframes I would have thought, to go onto the seats you already have ?

This said, think the rado looks awesome mate !

  7. What did what achieve ??

Previously, it was more commonplace to modify Rallyes and the 3-bar map sensor was necessary if you were running a highly-modified G60 engine (Rallye was 1H remember and not PG) of mods and boosting over 17psi. Hence, why people building a highly-modded corrado G60 tend to replace the ECU with a Rallye one with the 3-bar map sensor already fitted or fit a higher-rated map sensor from another vehicle to the standard ECU (I am going to have to do this eventually).

Check here out as well for a really good tinting uide in the technical section. I used this guide to do my last white rado's tailights and they turned out really good. Unfortunately, they got sold with the car. See here:

This website also has a lot of other great info on other DIY projects.

I have a spare set of crystal In-Pro's that I am going to fit the set of red empire grafix overlays to create an all-red crystal set of In-Pro's. I also have another set of standard rado rear tailights that I am going to top-tint as per the corrado club of Canada guide, like on my last rado. And I also have another set of Smoked In-Pro's currently on the car, so I will have the full set if I fancy a change ! (although reckon these may be up for sale soon, 3 good sets is just greedy ! ;-))

  9. If it's a facelift (2003-onwards) Subaru Impreza STi Type UK, then it has 265 BHP at the crank (poss. around 215 BHP at wheels, as they lose a fair bit through the 4wd drivetrain).

This said, I still wouldn't have one, as they are everywhere.

  10. I was the first to drive the local Audi ARCS RS4 courtesy car, and word on the grapevine is that seeing as there has been several sold up my neck of the woods , wioth around 20 on order for next 18 mths, that they will have to get an R8 courtesy car available up here soon........please let me be the one to pick her up and deliver her. My nate has one on order for March delivery too ;-)

  11. Mine came off a Vauxhall Combo 1.7 CDTi van of all things. It's only half to 2/3 rd's of the original black beesting and looks much better, cost about £9 form Vauxhall IIRC. Direct replacement, same fitting etc.

  12. In a way he is telling the truth, I called him this afternoon and asked about the subframes. He said they were genuine Scirocco height-adjustable subrames, but the standard ones that fit standard seats, they don't fot the satndard 6-bolt RECARO bolt pattern, that said you could buy and cut / weld / drill them to fit RECARO seats. If they were the right ones, believe me I woulda bought them by this point, if they had turned out to be the ones I hoped they were !

Best to hold out for genuine set of Corrado / Scirocco RECARO subframes, check eBay.de and eBay.com constantly and you may get lucky, as I MAY have been, but we'll see..........

    Cheers and again HTH.

  13. Golf and Corrado / Scirocco ones are basically identical, except Corrado / Scirocco ones are height adjustable (be in manually or electrically). I had a set of these MK2 RECARO manual subframes (non-height adjustable) which were attached to my RECARO's when I bought them (they were out of a MK2).

They will physically fit in but as mentioned previously in other posts about this, they will sit too high in the car (esp. a prob if you are tall like me !), to really be useable.

I know it's hard but really the only solution is to be patient and wait for a set or height adjustable Corrado or Scirocco runners / subframes to crop up somewhere, and be prepared to pay quite a lot for them as they are highly desirable, damn rare and difficult to find tbh.

I believe you MAY (don't quote me on that) still be able to get hold of them direct from RECARO or they are defo able to fabricate a set I have heard if they get a template set to copy.

    Cheers and HTH
