what a great bloke! and yes I know.....I'm a div
-
checked for sparking and there was nothing even with water being sprayed. Henny, where will I find the plug thing? Cheers
-
I'll check but I don't think it will be the leads? They were replaced along with the plugs a couple on months ago. They aren't quality VW leads though?
-
you don't happen to have a diagram or know where I will find one  I'm so thick! Thanks For finding the blue plug that is
-
Thanks Rpmayne, Do you mean the leads were getting hot which was causing the problem? Would it be worth buying some VW replacements?
-
its a very old (89) 16v 1.8 Thanks for your help Henny

ARSE!!!!! Its not all fine and rosy at all. Whilst there is great improvement with the running of the car, the dodgy rev's (flicking all over the place) and the flat running is back. The flat running thing is weird - sometimes all the oomph is there and other times its really sluggish. When changing gear the revs drop very fast and dip to 5000 then it seems to compensate and raises to 15000 before settling down. Could it be a leak in the exhaust? What more could it be??????

cheers Henny - I thought it was ok especially as that price included the MOT Steve

Anyone who has read my previous threads will know that I've had a heap of trouble with my old C. Well good news! I've just had the oil pump/sump/hall sender and cam belt done and she's running like a dream! The hall sender was without doubt the cause of the ruff idol/cutting out so that's made the obvious difference. Also, hopefully now the new sump is in place, I won't be spending so much money on oil and polluting the environment as much. The other good news is she sailed through the MOT. What's the catch...well, £410.00 for everything. For the work done is that a fair price? A very excited.. Steve :-P

I've got about 7 dents in the usual spots down the seems of the doors. I've had a guy out to have a look and give me a quote (£70 seems reasonable). Problem is, he's said that the paint may chip when he pulls the dents - has anyone got any experience of this? Thanks Steve

Anyone thats read my previous post will know I need lots of work done on my 18.16v Can anyone suggest a good mechanic/garage that REALLY know the Corrado? Area - from St Albans to Stevenage Cheers
-
aks I returned your PM. Remember just smack it from both sides on an solid surface. Anyway, Coullstar If its the timing why does the old one still work? Should I just take this to a garage to get done as I've got no idea what a TDC is and couldn't see any of the marks you spoke of? I wish I wasn't so stupid! I really struggle understanding engines and I own a G reg car - what was I thinking!!
-
It was turning over fine it just wouldn't start. I checked the plugs and they looked fine! Thanks for any advise
-
Well I got the pin out, assembled the sender, fitted back without any further issues...... only problem being, it still wouldn't start! Took it all apart again checked everything and re-assembled - again nothing?? I've had to put the old one back in and now I'm back to my C cutting out! Any ideas why the new hall sender wouldn't work and why the old one does????? Many thanks as always
-
Have replaced hall sender, car will now turn over but will not start - any ideas? Thanks.
-
AAHHH!! I can't tap out the pin, been hammering it from both sides. What can I do? Thanks.
-
Received the Hall Sender this morning - thirty quid for that :!: Bloody better be the cause of the problem or I'm going to cry and sell the sodding car. Who said owning a Corrado would be easy! Two years of owning a Scirocco and the only thing I ever did was change the oil/tyres Autotrader could be the first page I'll be going to if this doesn't work tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Anyone know where I can get a ECU replacment and how much it might be? Would a second hand one do the job? Thanks
-
Thanks for all the advise. I've ordered the part now.... I just hope I'm able to fit it!!! How long should it take to fit the hall sender and how difficult is it?? Thanks again
-
Oh arse! I'm so use to you fixing problems I didn't check!!!!! Sorry Coullstar!!! Thanks for your help - I'll keep YOU posted. :(
-
Thanks Henny, I've ordered the part from the gsf as suggested (only £27 with free P&P) and I'll use your guide to fit it. Hopefully that will solve te issue - who knows! Thanks for your help yet again, I'll let you know how I get on!
-
Thanks guys I'll have a look and let you know. Henny (Ian  ), would you have a look at my other post (Dying) from today and give me your thoughts - really appreciate it! Cheers
