VR6 Supercharger problems SPARK PLUG help NOW needed!
gibber replied to gibber's topic in Engine Bay
Just had a quick look on vortex and most seem to be saying 1.8T / S4 plugs which are a grade colder than stock, some even saying 2 grades colder than stock, this could explain why I have burnt mine out so quickly! Need to research! -
Henny did you say I had some how fitted this to my late bonnet when you saw it at VWNW?

VR6 Supercharger problems SPARK PLUG help NOW needed!
gibber replied to gibber's topic in Engine Bay
I expected at least one person to say it could be my MAF and make me think its was going to be a costly job. The gutter is it is going to take me about 3 hours to change the plugs! The whole chargecooling manifold has got to come off! -

Help me please, max 1 isnt running right, after I spat the dummy last week so did my C! Driving home it developed a miss fire but I only noticed wen I was pulling off the motorway as the exhaust was realy banging. I popped the bonnet to find that the pipe from the Airflow meter to the TB had come off, I fastened this back on and the miss fire didnt clear completly, it is at the top end of the revs or underload. It doesnt feel like its loosing the same cylinder, more like the feeling wen you are running out of petrol. I have done an ECU reset, that only helped slightly. Anyone got any ideas for me? Not had chance to look at it yet. Start with the easy first I always say, so Im going to start with the plugs, they was changed last year and have done about 3000 hard miles. Is there any comman faults that cause these syptoms?
-
Nope cant be done becouse of the pivot point and all that. Jerome Dik did it to his C.

Lengthen your rear axle by 50mm would put them back in the middle. Thought about doing this to mine!

I say the only good place to practice is the strip because no road surface is quite the same. What car and performane are you driving that you need to practice your starts? Practicing your starts is all well and good, but it all goes to pot when your are sat there pre staged creeping forward to staged trying to syke out the other driver, as the adrenaline starts to take effect, your clutch foot starts to shake, you see the stage liges come on, the tree counts down and you either stall or sit there rewarming your tires! Or is that just me haha!

I dont get on with them! And they are only a mile from me. Had a few bad experances since Ian Birch sold up.

IIRC it has the same bolt pattern but it is physicaly bigger as in longer.
-
A piece of top hose cut open and tip tied to the axle will stop the noise!

Johnboy98 "Remeber"? oh I could post such a lovely insult but Im not the type, why people feel the need to post nasty comments about other peoples prides and joys is beyond me! :? My mum taught me, if you got nothing nice to say dont say anything at all! :!:

Yeah true about the warranty. As for fitment, its only 3 bolts for the charger and a couple more for the tensioner, I would do that for you! The chargecooler is a touch harder to fit but I could easily do that also! Like I said if you want to meet up and go for a spin with no comitments let me know, its all ways good to talk to like mined corrado fans!
-
adambob I agree with corradovr6sc you do not need any head or engine work to fit one ov these chargers and have trouble free motoring. My engine is on 120000 trouble free miles. I do disagree with corradovr6sc about not getting the ZR1 as you need to keep retightening the belt, I have never had to tighten my belt, you just need to use belt dressing every once in a while to stop it slipping! But that is a matter of opinions, and of course I am selling a ZR1. I am selling mine as Im going to rebuild my engine and go down a new route as I am going to use the car more for drag racing. If you are interested we can meet up some where and I will take you out in it and show you the power differance. it all depends how much power you want the shrec set-up usually gets you just over 200 horses, where as the charger is getting you more like 250!
-
I will sell you my z-eng charger, custom charge cooler, water/methanol injection, good for about 270 bhp all day long! All for a bit over 2000.

The cap is the electrical switch fastened to the bottom of the ignition barrel, and it is available seperately. Just thought I would let you know case you trace it back to the barrel and still have no joy. Im sure some one on here will give you the part number and correct name!
-
I had a the same problem in my golf, and when I metered it back I found hat is was the ignition barrel that was at fault. I took it apart and fixed it, this was a very fiddly job that I wouldnt recomend, only for me to short it and blow it again, so I bought a new cap, wasnt that expencive.
