Lo all, Firstly, here is the only good pic ive got of my car. It the white Corrado parked next to my red G60. I left work a 6am sat morning, the weather was drizzly and the roads wet. The route home is horrible, twisty tight bends and my oil in the engine was still cold so i was only doing about 50 mph. I went down a hill that sweeps to the left at the bottom and then as it goes up it twists to the right. Half way up a dog came out of nowhere so i swerved right lost the back end to the right, so i turned into the slide which over-corrected and the back shot to the right. The car has been a bit twitchy since i had it and was the first thing i wanted to sort. I mounted the curb going sideways, drivers side first. Slid across the grass and smashed into 2 sign posts. Took them both out, and finally stopped in the junction. Turned engine off, restarted and drove onto the waste land next to the signs. No one else was involved. One bloke stopped and asked if i was alright, i asked of he had a phone, he said no and got into his van and drove off. He was a contractor with his mobile number on the side Walked 1.5 miles to find a pay phone and got the g/f to come out. Phone the police and the AA, gave police my info so i can pay for the signs and the AA bought me home. Road sweeper came out, swept up the mess that i hadnt managed to clean up and then asked if it could be repaired. I dont think so.... Im ok, small bruise on my leg and a bit stiff but other than that, fine. People complain VWs are heavy, but i think that if id been in any other type of car it would of been more serious.

there ok, it depends how much room they give you to get in. Some only open upwards, others open up and out giving you more room. i would like to see doors that are hinged where the handle normally is and open at the front, with the handle being under the wing mirror. Probably very impracticle but id still like to see it!

Lo, ive just come across this: http://www.frappr.com/ its an interactive map where you register and create a free map for a group of friends or a club. Each member can then log on and enter where they live. I was just wondering whether we already had something like this or would it be something people would be interested in?

When i bought Vals C and was coming up the motorway there was the usual folks sitting in the middle lane with zero traffic anywhere else. I was over taking and then going into the far left lane to prove a point. Some people took notice. A BMW driver obviously liked what i was doing as he started doing it, however, he also started undertaking. Something that really gets my back up as well. Roundabouts, my local town is full of them and none of the local people know how to use them! The third one is only just as bad as those that brake and then indicate, instead of indicate and then brake!

Lo all, Ive been driving my C pretty much solid since i got it a week ago and had no real problems until today. I took my little bro home yesterday and the passenger door lock worked fine, got home and parked up. Went to go out last night and i noticed a rattle coming from the passenger door but thought it was just the interior squeaking. However, i went to unlock the door today from the inside and nothing. The lock pin comes up about 2/3s of the way and then is pulled back down, i tried from the ouside and the same happens. Drove about for about 30 mins and thought id try it again as the g/f was climbing out of my door. It unlocked and opened. Locked it and tried to open again. Same problem. Its currently parked outside, unlocked but i need some advice on what it may be before i start ripping the door cards off. Central locking doesnt work although im not sure why. Its sounds like a metal rattle but doesnt happen all the time when driving, it doesnt make a noise at all when still, even if the ignition is on which makes me think that i cant be the central locking trying to work. Any help would be great!!

The g/f and I were on our way up to the lake district in her mk4 golf, we passed through a snow storm so bad that the window wipers couldnt take it and clogged up so everyone was doing about 10mph. About 2 miles the other side of the snow storm im following a BMW driver who is sitting in the ouside lane and is obviously taking more notice of his paperwork on the passenger seat than driving. We end up having to slow down and stop due to traffic, Mr BMW decides now would be a good time to read something on the passenger seat so leans over. Due to his attention being elsewhere he fails to notice that the traffic has started to move again. I honked a couple of times, no response, so i just put my hand on the horn, still nothing. Just as i was about to get out of the car he noticed what was happening and moved off! MUPPET!! Just like to point out my missus is a young business woman with a hatchback, very good driver now ive trained her properly :D

Lo all, I was chatting to the lady that owns a local shop, manufacturing interiors for MG's. She was saying that she can do them for any car out of any material, so we got chatting about the Corrado interiors. We were wondering how much full leather front and rear seats normally go for? Is anthing else in the C usually leather? Thanks!

Lo all, Ive tried everywhere to get the answer to this question but no one has been able to help me. I know its not a Corrado question but im hoping one of you boffins can help! I have a 1.4 mk3 golf that needs a new gear box before i can sell it. Well VW want £800+ which is more than the cars worth so ive found a refurb'd one for £100. Problem is they need a gearbox code, and me being about as mechanically minded as a spaniel has no idea where to look! Ive been told to check the owners manual (which i havent got) or the haynes manual (which i cant find since i moved). Can anyone tell me where i can find it, how i can figure it out or if it should be on the actual gearbox and what should the code look like? Any help grateful received! :D Thanks

Hi all, Ive been working my backside off over the last 6 months to get a new engine for my G60. I really wanted to keep the charger but i wanted a newer engine than the older 16v ones. Ive been told i wont be able to fit it to a 1.8t engine if i get rid of the turbo :( so it looks like a 1.8t it is so ive been looking for prices and received this today: Is that price right?? I could go out and buy a top C with god knows what done to the car for less than that! What price should i be looking at? Thanks Stu

Im not sure if this has been posted but here you are.. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/61892.htm seems a bit cheap to me!
-
im a member of another forum and told them i needed a new engine, the 2.0l 20v turbo came up but someone suggested that i use the engine but fir the charger to it instead. Other suggestions include: 2.0 8v bottom end with 16v KR head and cams Golf V5 engine A 1H engine out of a Rallye Anyone any experience with any of these? its all so bloody confusing!
-
thats the turbo conversion isnt it? Ideally id like an engine i can stick my charger on, not a big fan of turbos. Unless it'll take a turbo and a charger :D

Lo all, I havent posted in ages as ive been far too busy. I finally got around to having my G60 engine checked over and ive basically been told to get a new one. Question is what should i get? 1.8 - 2.0 16v? maybe a mk4 golf gti engine? Ive no idea where to start so any suggestions welcome!

I was called "a bl**dy boy racer" yesterday in the
MNuTz replied to PoorMansPorsche's topic in General Car Chat
i dont care what people think, im not a boy but i am a racer :) With cars like ours whats the point in going slow? Yes i speed, if someone walks out in front of me on a Friday night ill press the clutch and rev my engine to get him to move, i also like tearing away from 'boy' (chav) racers when the try following my down the bypass. we're just boy racers grown up Now we can afford decent aggresive looking cars! -
is a torque wrench needed when changing steering wheel?
MNuTz replied to PoorMansPorsche's topic in Interior
i never have mate, just a socket set should do the trick! oh, and making sure your wheels are straight when you put the steering back help too :D -
Theres a local Upholsterers near me that specialises in MG's but also does other stuff (including the seats of the car for 'the league of extraordinary gentlemen' film). ive been up and spoke to the owner and although theres no official vacancy and after she'd seen my CV she was eager to make an opening for me!! If i get it, and after ive been there a while im going to bring up the idea of doing Corrado interiors as well! They do some really nice leather work! If anyone saw "An MG is Born" when Mark had his seats done then you'll know the people im on about! Fingers Crossed!!!

what you need to do is invite as many forum members round to your place as possible at the same time, we can then surround him with C owners while you ask him to repeat his views on the car :D
-
personally, id knock him over and pour paint thinner in his eyes! You have anymore trouble with this idiot you let us know, im sure we can get our own back somehow! :D Id start with a one page advert in your local paper congratulating him on coming out :D

Lo all, I was planning on removing my charger so i could send it to g-werks on my next 4 off but it turns out i got to work for the next 12 days straight through. Todays my last day off so i need to remove it now if possible. Is there anything i must do before i start to remove it? Any little hints and tips to make it easier? How long should it take? Also, will i need to replace anything when im putting it back on? Thanks Noob :)

Hi all, Theres some rear C lights down at the scrappy and im after some LED ones but cant find them anywhere. How difficult would it be to use the scrapyard ones to build my own LED lights? I was thinking of having the standard rear light as a line of LEDS around the outside and the VW logo in the middle. When you brake all the LEDs come on. Would this be possible or just a cool idea that'll never happen?

Thanks for all the good info! Just wondering what problems will i encounter with having the boost return pipe taped? And what advantages would i get by deleting the boost return?
-
ive been reading up on porting and was wondering if a noob could do it succesfully or is it best left to a pro? Also, whats involved in having something flowed?
-
Lo all, Im slowly getting the C sorted and im currently ordering parts left right and center. I need some new hoses as the standard ones are looking rather past it and one has a hole in thats been taped shut by the previous owner   Heres a pic: As you can see, the Air bypass tube from the charger branches upwards and connects to the top of the engine. This is the pipe thats been taped. Ideally id like to replace as many pipes as possible with performance pipes but which do you recommend, what price are we looking at and wheres the best place to get them from? Also, because im not sure where to put this next question ill add it on here! The engine bays looking a bit tatty, any suggestions on making it more appealing to the eye?

Kev, how much did he charge for it and what exhaust did you have fitted and what did that set you back?
