Came off the A3 driving quite spiritfully in my T5 and flew past a lovely Corrado Storm, looked fairly OE maybe apart from rear lights Anyway, flew past it and slowed down in hope it'd catch up, it started to catch so I put my foot down again and came to a roundabout (A volvo's worst nightmare) anyway, took the round about the Storm was now up my booty and I let it past.. Would just like to know if it was anyone on here, sorry if the crap coming out of my exhaust went all over your car.. lol This was all goin on along the Claygate by-pass then to the scilly isles then he went off heading towards Hampton Court and I turned off for Thames Ditton... Thanks Mark

Is it possible to pull the starter motor casing off? I've seen there are 2 LONG bolts at the end, so undone these and nothing happened.. Is it just VERY stiff or is there more to it? Thanks

Different/incorrect VR6 oil filter supplied by GSF...
MarkGolf replied to Funkster's topic in Engine Bay
I have a Corrado lump... Surely there isn't an actual difference in filter casings e.t.c so using the filter I have would be ok? ;) -
My tensioner feels a bit 'grainy' I heard of people/someone on here offering to do a bearing cahnge.. Any clues or DIY info?

I've got a genuine VW filter.. Its a yellow paper one with no metal bits on the ends, just a card thing. Its defo a genuine VW item and defo for the VR6.. Surely its fine to use? -
Ah ok! Thought it would be a DIY thing as a mate was telling me about the pins giving way, so a bolt is a recommended upgrade!! I'll hang it out and wait until I get the box Stealthed! Defo want a peloguin/quaife differential! Would love to do it all now but the cash needs to go into so much else beforehand! :( Is a shame I will be putting everything back together only to be pulling it out all over again :(

Where can I get one and whats involved in fiting? thanks

Nice one!! Im just building this head as a backup head as Im probably going to send my current head off to be 'played with' sometime next year... There's a light scoring on the valves, but defo no lip what so ever! The movement is like a suction movement from the other end, so it all sounds good! :D Lets stop this talking about the stiffness...lol Im sure those seal have lil springs around them or somehitng (i cud be imagining things), then there are these clear 'tube' things which I have no idea where they go! Does anyone have pics of a head which has been freshly times so i can see the position of the cams Thanks!

Nice one Kev! Luckily, I have no lateral movement, but do find the valves quite stiff going up and down, maybe because the valves had just been cleaned with parafin.. Not sure if a quick oil will solve the prob? In this pic, what is contained in the small bag? http://i6.ebayimg.com/02/i/03/a8/5c/76_1_b.JPG They seat in the block?

Im building up my spare head.. When pullling a valve up and down from the bottom of the head, should it be quite tight? How do I change a valve oil seal as one of them is broken and if needs be, how do I change a guide? How much are the seals and the guides? Thanks!

I was tempted by the Eurosport one, but just not sure if its tooo light, Id be interested in knowing if its safe to take the OE one to 10/12lb's?

Hey Just wanna checka few things.. My gearbox is due to go back on the car soon, but before it goes back and while its out.. Are there any minor things I can do to benefit myself.. Something that doesn't involve pulling ti apart.. I keep getting told about diff pins and the like, but is this something that requires alot of work and experience? Thanks, any advice appreciated!

Im seriously thinking about a fidanza, but not sure about the everyday drivability of it. I've heard alot of stories about it being a bit of 'an arse' due to it being soo light.. SO, I think I'd feel better going for a comprimise and getting the OE one lightened to be the best of both standard and Fidanza.. Where can I take/send my flywheel to, to have this done PROPERLY? Needs to happen pretty fast as car is ready to go Thankssss

Yup, that hold it together, not hold the actually box to the block...

Does no one actually know?

Can anyone tell me the torque ratings for the 5/6 bolts that go across the diff area of the VR6 gearbox please, I cannot find the figures anywhere! Is there a good online guide? Thanks!

Hi, Been cleaning up my head today, and was wondering is there anything I should get done to it while its off... I thought about port and polishing, but was told there really isn't too much point being a road car.. Without the obvious cam upgrades, whats worth doing, if anything? Can you enlarge the exhaust manifold? Cheers

I'd want one, just have to bodge it to suit a mk3 Golf

Just got given another 2.9 bottom end, Nothing is on it, bar the sprockets and chains on one side... Should I be able to turn it over by pulling on the chain? Couldn't seem to do it when I gave it a quick go.. So am a bit worried it wont turn over, bu then again, it hasn't be used for about a year.. Is the best way to get it to move by getting the crank pulley bolt put in and getting a large bar on the wrench and turn? Thanks
