What happened to the VR you had when I bumped into you in Cardiff? I know I was drunk but I'm sure you had a VR. Infact didn't you look at buying a second one not so long ago? :)

Rob's Project VR6 and 2.0 16v, VR6 head rebuild.
dumptyboy replied to dumptyboy's topic in Members Gallery
Its been a while since I last updated this, so here's a load of pretty picture, and some not so pretty: I decided to do a head rebuild as recently the Corrado had been kicking out black smoke and burning loads of oil, i've never done a head rebuild or headgasket change before so this was a nice little challenge for me, and all the information I needed for the build was sourced from the forum and google, the rebuild took me a weekend to complete: New head gasket: Old cylinder head: New cylinder head etc: new head on and torqued up: homemade cam tool: timing complete: put it all back together now: I finished connecting up the leads and fuel lines, when flushed the coolant system and refilled it with coolant antifreeze, and then dropped the oil and changed the filter. The oil was well overdue a change! Id turned the engine over by hand before I put the rocker cover and upper manifold back on, just to check that I had done the timing correctly and everything lined up just as it should. So being confident that all was well I turned the key and the engine fired straight back into life, it was abit noisey for the first minute or so until the oil pressure built up, but as soon as id checked the coolant and oil was not leaking in anyway I took it for a drive. I cant believe the difference in the performance. Its much more responsive, smoother and quicker to drive. Now ive just got to tidy the rest of the engine bay up and retape the wiring loom, hopefully when the weather warms up abit! ---------- Post added at 4:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 4:03 AM ---------- Gold VR badge: -
I pulled the fuse board down just now and found that the purple/white cable from the engine loom, was disconnected from the purple/white cable that comes down from the instrument cluster. Once reconnected my mpg now works as I should. Happy days. :)

I'm 29 and my insurance for my VR6 is through Adrian Flux, it costs me £290 on a limited mileage policy of 4000 miles, and out of the 4 Corrados I have owned I can be pretty certain that my G60 was stolen at some point( door handle ripped out aswell as steering wheel lock) and my VR6 looks like its also had the door handle removed with a screwdriver and had lots of broken glass inside the door etc. So that means 50% off the Corrado I've owned have possibly been stolen at some point, it's no wonder the insurance is stupidly high when the Corrado seems to be a joy riders dream back in the day!

I've got one mate. £10 posted? Pm me if your interested.

Hi. I need a known working maf sensor. What have you got, and price including p+p please? Cheers.

My VR6 has read 99.9 mpg ever since I've owned it. I've replaced the whole wiring loom for the dash as the car had loom fire originally, I've also replaced the sensors on the thermostat housing and checked all the engine bay wiring for faults. The cluster still reads 99.9 mpg, so I would really appreciate it if someone could give me a list of things to check so that I can accurately read the mpg. Is it possible that I left one of the cables unplugged behind the fuse board, would this explain my problem? The forum search shows that a few early Corrados have had this problem and it's related to the pipe being loose on the back of the cluster, but obviously my VR does not have this set up! Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Belt tensioner. I had the same problem on mine, you need a new tensioner bearing I would say. http://wiki.the-corrado.net/vr6_belt_tensioner_pulley_repair.html

I've got a few items remaining from the G60 I recently broke for parts: G60 full set of pistons and used piston rings, in good condition and would clean up nicely, £45 posted: G60 clutch pressure plate and flywheel, both need a clean but in good condition, £40 posted for the flywheel/£20 posted for the pressure plate: G60 crank shaft, in great condition, will include fixings, £30 posted: G60 cylinder head, including cam, valves, exhaust manifold etc, basically everything you see in the picture, again it needs a clean up but is in very good condition, mileage of car was approx 120,000 miles, £70 posted: I'm open to offers on all items. :)

Alpine White H reg valver spotted near Morrisons, Haverfordwest. I'm pretty sure it's a car I looked at that was for sale in Tenby around a year ago, needed some work!

Pics: Open to an offer, postage will be no more than £1. And I know it's just the passengers side you need, so I will check which one is the item you need and give it a clean. Cheers. Rob.

Right edd. I've just read your post again and I'm unsure if these are the bits your after, or the actual top trim that attaches to the door card. These are what I have: Let me know if I'm barking up the wrong tree. Cheers bud.

I have one aswell mate. It has both the pins intact but one is bent over slightly. I will dig it out tomorrow and take a picture, unless you have already bought one of course. Rob.

I have worked the last few weeks without a day off so today I decided to take the VR out for a spin, but unfortunately the battery was dead! So whilst waiting for the battery to charge I decided to do some small jobs to the car. First was to replace the snapped bonnet cable, which broke when I was lifting the bonnet to disconnect the dead battery! Luckily I had a spare cable off the G60 I broke for parts. Next I removed the drivers door card and membrane and replaced the two window rollers, as the old ones kept popping out! Then cleaned the ISV and maf sensor with carb cleaner, WD40 and electrical cleaner. And finally the last job was to reconnect the battery and go for a spin!!! I went straight to the petrol station, and managed to use £15 worth of fuel spinning around this afternoon, woooops, haha. :)

My mfa reads 99.9 miles on my VR,(K reg 1993, coil pack) I've checked all the wiring and connections on the rear of the cluster put it still reads the same. Is it connected to one of the sensors on the thermostat housing? I've changed the blue temp sensor, but that made no difference either! Any help appreciated. :)
