  1. You need two mate. I've also got a pair if you don't manage to sort it. Let me know if you need them of nobody else can help you. Cheers. Rob.
  2. I went to my local motor factors ( John Morgan auto parts) They supplied me with Febi top mount, I think it was just under £15 inc vat for both sides which I thought was really good! Part number: 357 412 331 A S1 ( this is the part number on the bag) it was top mounts including bearings. I can honestly say that it has transformed the ride of the car, I'm really surprised at the difference as I didn't think it would make all that much difference changing them, I'm so glad I did now though!
  3. Replaced both front top mounts this morning, and I'm amazed at the difference in handling, feels so much more solid and less clunky, and no wobble at speed or when braking! Then I replaced my broken passenger side door handle for a new one that I'd fitted the stronger release arm to. And finally I sorted out the central locking as my passengers side door was not unlocking with the central locking. It turned out that the air line from the central locking pump was kinked behind the dash and not allowing air to pass through it( probably because someone removed the dash to replace heater matrix and jammed the air line underneath). I routed a new pipe behind the dash and the passenger door now unlocks/locks as it should. Happy days. :)
  4. If its the red VR then name your price for the complete car, I'd happily take it off your hands......
  5. Have you got any pictures please? Is it humped rear seat, and early or late spec? Cheers.
  6. Try disconnecting the coolant temp sensor by the dizzy cap and take it for a run?
  7. Computer playing up!
  8. Engine temp sensor possibly, when was it last changed?

    Clutch issues

I would remove the slave cylinder and check for any obvious faults. It's either an issue with the master cylinder or the slave cylinder. My master cylinder was faulty due to the internal rubber seals. I replaced the slave cylinder first as it was easier to get hold of, but unfortunately it turned out to be the master. All sorted now, but had to bleed it twice as the clutch pedal hit the floor again after about 100 miles!

    Clutch issues

I would suspect the slave cylinder rubber boot is ripped, and not allowing full travel. It's easily removed in 10 minutes, I would check it for faults first. Also how did you bleed the system, gunsons eezibleed or just by using the clutch pedal?
  11. Does your car have a factory fitted immobiliser do you know? Have you tried using another key to start it? If it does have a factory immobiliser then it's possible the contacts need cleaning. Is it a G60 you have?
  12. Replacement clutch needed ( full kit) Clutch disc, pressure plate, thrust bearing, Flywheel cleaned up possibly. But please don't take my word for it, get a local garage to diagnose the problem. If its the clutch then obviously the gearbox will need to be removed. Most garages charge between 3-6 hours labour for this job, plus parts! But it's possible to do it yourself with the right tools and a basic knowledge of mechanics.
  13. My VR didn't have a mark on the crank pulley either and mine is an early coil pack. I set my timing using the intermediate markings and finding TDC. You could then see the marking line on the flywheel. I rotated my engine over by hand a few times once I loosely fitted the tensioner, just to make sure everything was lining up, and then ended up putting a mark on the crank pulley using a hammer and screwdriver just in case I needed to do it again in the future.
  14. hi mate, cheers for the offer. I just removed the one from my 2.0 16v and found that it is exactly the same part, so I've swapped it over and the clutch is now as good as new. I'm glad as I have a funeral tomorrow and was panicking that I would have no car to get there! Anyway I'm going to need one to fit back into my 2.0, so if you still have yours by next pay day then I will have that off you please. I will contact you once my pay has gone through. cheers bud.
  15. Hi, no i mean the clutch master cylinder. I've already changed my slave cylinder for a new one a couple of days ago. Cheers.
  16. As title, I am looking for either a decent second hand clutch master cylinder or if someone can point out to me where I can get a new replacement part. Any help appreciated as always. Thanks. Rob.

    What is it?

It's off the back of the sunroof mechanism.
  18. Cheers everyone for your advice. How do I change the fluid Steve? I doubt it's been done in a long time, and is probably well passed its use by date. I did consider bleeding the fluid of any possible air, but just wanted to see what advice everyone could offer. Thanks again. Rob.
  19. I pulled up outside my local shop yesterday to go and grab a couple of beers, and when I got back in the car the clutch pedal was on the floor and I could not get the car out of gear!! I rocked the car and got in into neutral, started it and then drove it home in second gear. I did notice that prior to the clutch pedal going completely that the bite was getting lower and lower on the pedal, the clutch itself seemed fine though, no clutch slipping or thrust/release bearing noise. I'm assuming it might be the clutch slave cylinder that's at fault, but would like a second opinion. I pulled the pedal up by hand and pumped it a few times and it seems like its back to normal, but I'm sure it will do it again as soon as I take the car for a spin. Any help appreciated please. Cheers.
  20. I've got a set, including the centres. The tyres are also good, but the wheels have been painted black at some point. I used a pressure washer on one wheel and it brought it back to the original silver paint, and it looks really good, I just didn't get round to doing the other wheels. I will get a couple of pictures and post them up for you. Rob.
  21. There is a plastic bar that you need to pull out slightly on the right side of the fuse board which holds the connecters in place.
  22. I drove from my house to Tenby ( approx 17 miles) about 3 weeks ago, I didn't thrash it but gave it abit of heavy acceleration where I could. The car only gets used on weekends and I might only do about 3 miles in it some weeks, but once the engine is upto temperature I tend to take it for a good hard drive for a couple of miles if traffic allows! Do you think the cars lack of use could course the problems I'm having, should I try taking it for a longer drive and see if it clears thing up? Cheers.
