dubweiser replied to dubweiser's topic in Drivetrain
its not the ball joint itself!!Its just the bolt that locks it in place that goes through the hub assembly.Horizontal bolt with 17mm nut on it. -

lower ball joint bolt....does it need a good belt?
dubweiser replied to dubweiser's topic in Drivetrain
aha.....maybe i didnt explain it properly. Its not the actual joint im having probs with but the bolt that goes through.Ive got the nut off but didnt want to hit the bolt if it was not meant to come out like this.Cheers -
The 2 lugs on top of my passenger side headlight that the fixing screws go through have snapped.Ive bunged loads of gluefrom a hot melt gun at the moment as a temporary fix but it doesnt look too pretty.Any advice on a better way to fix this problem as i dont want to go down the road of buying a new light for nearly a hundred quid if i can fix it.Thought about plastic welding??Anyone know anywhere in the north east that does this kind of work?

I need to change my cv boot and i managed to get the nut off the ball joint bolt but the bolt will not budge(yet). Is there a way to get it out other than persuading it with a hammer. Is it threaded perhaps?or does it just need a bit of friendly coaxing?Just want to make sure before i hit it.Also i got a new cv boot kit from ECP and there are a few bits in it im not sure about ie a small semi circle shape piece of wire,a plastic ring which is stepped and a flat(ish) metal type washer.Anyone clarify what all these bits are please.Cheers

dubweiser replied to Willsy'sbigred16v's topic in Engine Bay
Hi i have experienced similar probs with my 2litre 16v and after replacing almost everything and tearing my hair out i finally got it put on a diagnostic tester and it turns out it is the lambda sensor causing it to run like this.Get yours checked mate.Hope this helps as i know how infuriating it can be..... -

Holy moley a fellow northerner!!!i never knew u used this forum.Im from just up the road mate and i have a 16v aswell. As far as roolin roads go well theres ron perry on the a19 and there is a place through newcastle(cant remember the name off the top of my head)As far as kjetronic stuff what is the problem?Do u need a diagnosis for a running fault or something cos if so i can put u in touch with a guy in peterlee.Ive had months of grief with mine not running right and i took it to him and he has a nice bit of jit to plug into the diagnostic socket which told me the problem right away.Get in touch i f i can be of help.Ive never seen your car around before.I must keep a look out.I thought i was the only owner of a white 16 v round here.Good to see i have a fellow enthusiast

I want to renew my brake calipers on my 2litre 16v 1993 corrado and have been told on the forum that golf calipers will fit and would be possibly a better alternative but which model golf has the same ones??Ive been told its a mk4 but there are loads of different models. Are they all the same or will only certain ones fit. Also is this the same for the mk3 as there are loads in the local scrappy but im not sure which model i need.Cheers :D

Ive just about ripped every last hair out of my head trying to find my cars crappy idling/running problem and it seems the only thing left is to replace or at least check the lambda probe. It is a 93 2litre 16v.Can someone tell me where exactly it is located and is there a way of testing it please.Help is mucho appreciated......

cheers guys.I already thought about replacement calipers from a scrappy but was unsure which ones would fit as a direct replacement. So a passat or a golf mk4??Any particular model or will any fit???Oh yes and plusgas?Where can i get it?Ive asked at a few places where i live and no one seems to know what it is.Mind u i do live in the north east ha ha.Perhaps its a southern thing(no offence intended)

Stupid question but what is plus gas???

My problem is that after having my car serviced and inspected it was found that the bleed nipples on my brake calipers were corroded(and possibly seized) and the front drivers side nipple has been sheared off or totally corroded away.HELP!! I want to replace my brake pads and i want to bleed the system but dont want to shear the other nipples so does anyone know the best course of action and what can i do about the nipple that is missing. The bottom bit of the nipple is still in the caliper.Ive been told it is possible to drill them and retap them and replace the nipples with larger size ones but am not sure how difficult this job is or how pricey it is if i send the calipers away to be done. Its a 2litre 16v if that helps.Cheers....

Thanks guys im gonna get my tracking/camber checked first to see if this sorts the problem

Hi i have a 2litre 16v corrado and after reading a lot of topics in here i have come to the conclusion that my ball joints are shagged. My steering is wheel is pointing off centre and if i go over a bump or on a road with a camber in it the wheel is trying to be dragged out of my hands.Just wanted to know if it is a hard job to do myself and is there any tips anyone can give before i start. Is there any torque settings etc that i need.Cheers for the help and i hope i can get it sorted as i am going to end up with one arm the size of mr.scwarzennegers trying to wrestle with my car every time i go out.!!!
