Genuine and brand new RHD centre console guages....

Oh right. I dont know, think dave said they never worked for him, so I am guessing they didnt work from the start then? I will get it working though! I really want the oil pressure one more than battery (although the battery one has come in use) 8) -

Well unless they took the proper connector off it looks like they didint have it and the oil pressure guage didnt work. The spade connector may have fallen off the back, I need to hav e a better look, but its def not the proper connector. -
The main four bumper bolt are 17mm I believe. Get a good socket that grips the sides not the corners to stop the edges rounding. Also a good breaker bar comes in handy. When you have everything off, give the bolts a clean with some wire wool and give them a good squirt of white grease. Water collects on the threads and this is why they are sometimes difficult to get off. If you do want to take the bumper off again this helps. Also the two brackets (bent pieces of metal, dont know the proper name) that go through the slam panel and mount the rad to the salm, give these a clean, kurust and hammerite. Rust builds up on them and can make the hard to get out. Dont be afraid to give these a bit of wack to get them out. they are sturdy. Dont be afraid to give it ago, I suck at mecahnics and I managed to get it done (eventually). Also while you are there its a good opportunity to change some other parts (thermostat etc). All the best with it boys and if I can think of anything else I will put it up.

yeah I got spade on mine (couldnt remember the name). So I just need the correct oil pressure sensor and I can use a spade to connect it to the guages and it should be fine then? That would work out cheaper. Cheers -

Ok I pulled mine out last night and I dont have the proper connector going into the back of the unit. Who ever wired it up just used chrimp connectors. My question is do I need the proper wiring to get the oil pressure to work? Do vagparts sell the connector seperately? Cheers -
Hi Got the dash out while I change the heater matrix and my heater fan motor is getting a bit noisy so I thought I would change that as well. Is it worth going VAG or will a GSF one do? Thanks

Get a metal drill bit and drill through the bolt (the drilll bit should be smaller than the screw) Soaking the bolts in wd40 or plus gas a few days before will also help and just take your time. One of the screws snapped but I just replaced it. Annoying but not the end of the day. The smaller screws normally go more than the big ones. Try tightening them up a BIT then going to lose them, that can help. AS well as thumping them with a hammer or heating the screw up. I just finished doing my rad and know Im taking the dash apart to do the heater matrix. I wouldnt mind but I only just got the car and I havent really had a good chance to drive it yet!

If you dont want to run a greater risk of doing it again then get a VAG one. You get what you pay for and I would only get a VAG one to be hionest. I am doing mine in the coming week

Its a respray.

looking good!

The outside air temp is a blue sensor normally in the bottom half of the bumper drivers side.
-
Its very tight, you probably can do it without removing the bumper, but its SO much easier to take it off!

Can anyone post any pics? ive got an oil problem, with the sparkplugs oiling up. Would like to eliminate this from the possible problem. If i can figure it out I willpost a pic,but I will be guessing so might want to get some one to double check before copying me!! Why does my car have a coilpack if its has other early engine parts, must be a bit of a mongrel engine!!

I did mine, while I was there I replaced thermostat/temp senders/thermostat housing/water pipe and installed a oil cooler. Do it all at once to save time/agro later. Its a good excuse! The worst bit was a seized bolt on the bumpers, but its pretty straight forward. I got my rad from ECP. I knwo VW are best but mine appeared to be a VW on (had the seriel number ground off which iI believe they do if its a vw part but not from vw). It was not a copper one. It cost me about £90 with a mates mechanic discount. Any questions just ask. I would say get a good breaker bar!

Waxoyl? I expect you could put hammerite down.

emmmmm, mine dont, but the engine has a coilpack. It doesnt look like fuses are missing either. Strange -

Does your module have two blade fuses under the little plastic flip bit on the left handside of it (looking at from the front of the car)? -
your fortunate then, I am just saying I know people who have had to wait ages for insurance to pay out. It wasnt their fault either at all (someone overtaking on a blind hill and was on his side of the road in one case). I am not saying not to do but there are times when its not the best idea.

Agreed, what happens if it gets crashed/stolen. You have to pay a car off you dont have. I know insurance covers this but you can still end up owing money and it can take over a year to sort out a insurance case. Only borrow money you can 'afford' to lose. Say if the car is worth £5000, borrow £2000 or there abouts.

I imagine about £4000?

thermoswitch turns the fan on. If you dont have a drain plug jsut pull the bottom hose of and run a water through a hose through it.

Modified Corrado VR or a Corrado VR in standard form??
Son of a Beesting replied to Bups's topic in General Car Chat
Depends how long you are willing to wait, what you think its worth when comparing to similar cars available at the moment etc. You will always get more if you return to standard but then you have the hassle of doing that! -
