Here is a pic of the damage: -
A mate reversed into my C and scraped the bumper at the weekend, so he is getting it sorted via the insurance... Anyway - I went in to the local dealers to get a repair quote and was told £150! I was impressed - he did said that he would be respraying the bumper! Am I being silly - does this sound quite cheap (esp for VW) - not complaining?

problem with remote central locking
Nick_Micouris replied to Nick_Micouris's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
no probs - couldnt locate the alarm fuses, but I did disconnect and reconnect the battery and that didn't fix it unfortunately. Do you reckon it could be a faulty C/L pump/control unit? ETKA part no 357962257 -
problem with remote central locking
Nick_Micouris replied to Nick_Micouris's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Hi Gavin Thanks mate - any idea which numbers those fuses are on the VR? isn't it wierd that the car central locks and full closures when you turn and hold the key in the door, though? Will do a battery check now! Thanks :) Nick -
I have had the above alarm fitted to my VR for the past two years and all has been fine until it recently stopped activating central locking and full closure. It actually arms the alarm and disarms but does not activate central locking, flash the hazard lights on arming/disarming and does not operate full closure. Using the key to operate the CL and full closure does work though. Obviously I would rather not operate these separately, and I don't really know where to look to establish whether the problem lies with the car's central locking system or a function on the toad alarm. Ideas anyone? :?:

nice one, cheers for all this! :)
-
okay, cheers mate :) I thought that you might have had to put the blower/heater controls on hot or something - SWORE I read that somewhere.

cool Henny, yep 10 litres! madness! I think I will need to clean out the heat exchanger too, what is the best way to flush that? I am hoping that the heater matrix is not nackered!
-
Henny You sure, according to the data sheet, the VR6 needs 10 litres of coolant and I was going to do 5 litres of G12+ to 5 distilled water.
-
doesnt seem to smell!
-
what is possible, is that someone prior to me used either regular G12 or Radweld and it was never flushed properly! Any advice on how to drain, flush and refil properly? I have bought 5x bottles of VAG G12+
-
haha! yes - sorry guys - DEFINITELY G12+ I promise!! :) Don't think you can get regular G12 anymore can you anyway?
-
yeah - Majik and I drained it about a year ago and converted from G11 to G12
-
yes - I guess so :(
-
yeah I am sure it is coolant as they seem to be coolant hoses. The stuff on the hose in pic 2 is of the coolant pipe but the leaks in pic 1 seem to be coming from the actual heat exchanger itself. are they pricey and is it a dashboard out jobby?
-
it def isn't radweld Henny, I assure you! I have never used the stuff!
-
from what I can tell - it looks like the actual heat exchanger itself is leaking - I take it that this is a nightmare job?
-
nope - looks like coolant as I am sure that they are the heat exhanger coolant pipes, right?
-
Hi All Does anyone know what this is? Seems to be around these hoses and it looks troublesome. I opened the bonnet because I could smell fuel and then saw this. Surely it is unrelated? It seems that two hoses have some kind of discharge at the heat exchanger end. Pic1pic2
-
so I guess he knew what he was doing ;)
-
it sure was! and a VAG part too!! All done as a cash "private" job at Abridge VW so no warranty etc... :( I remember the guy saying that he cut his finger on the clutch release bearing on assembly actually...
-
oh! Really - if that is the case, let me know!!
-
Thanks Andy! The clutch is only about a 15months old. As long as it is no biggie then I will leave it be :)

I have never changed the gearbox fluid to be honest. I thought it was never necessary to change it. I just remember my girlfriend who had a Polo that did the same and it was her clutch release bearing.
