got mine on my insurance too and it does indeed make it cheaper. I personally like the fact that she wants to drive my C and really appreciates the excellence of it :)

Corrado Forum Car of the Year - Nominations
Nick_Micouris replied to Shilakadaddy's topic in General Car Chat
For me it is Moonlight VR DEFINITELY! :D -
hmmm - yep! is there a wire that runs from the dash to the alt then?
-
cool - I will leave it be and ignore the light I think! If the car won't start I will look towards the batt replacement! thanks very much 8) !
-
It has had a good week's worth of driving! I wonder which bit I could have messed up - can you access the regulator easily on the VR? It was a simple screw-on bit on my mk2 golf!
-
I meant take the car for an mot - obviously! I should use "preview" more often!!
-
no big puddles BUT 1 week earlier I did take the car for an mot and the nipple that owned the place drove the car through a foot of water as the drains were blocked on approach to the centre and the engine bay was steaming. Could that have caused some damage?
-
No other wierdness, no. It only happened last night - I think the wipers were slow moving and lights became a little dim. will have a session in her tonight and see what happens!
-
hmm -s o the guy was blatantly just trying to shift a battery, eh!? not sure how to test/sort this light out - maybe I will just have to lump it :x :(
-
so - do you think I was misdiagnosed and that it must be the alternator? Sorry - I haven't got a voltmeter to hand. He was sure that it was the battery that was at fault because he said that the alternator was putting out 13.7 volts. I was wondering if it is just a problem with the diode. Basically I didn't want to shell out for a new batt unnecessarily. His point was that the alternator was charging but the batt was not responding - hence the red light! :?:
-
if the batt was diying would the alternator light actually come on?
-
just found the batt on GSF for £53 delivered inc vat! sounds fine to me
-
okay - thanks, Kev!
-
okay - nice - I looked on GSF's site and it doesn't seem to list the 64ah - has it been superceeded? Kev - do you think my problem is battery or alternator related?
-
spotted one in my wingmirror in the rotherhithe tunnel last night - we were all stucky in heavy traffic and you turned around and left - anyone?
-
Also - I am running an amp on this batt too - do you think that the 64ah will cope along with all the other elecs or should I go for bigger?
-
So - do you think that he is right and that it is the batt? Wierd thing is that this morning the light was out, which would suggest this is intermittent.
-
can't believe my English - "hear" - sorry it is late!!

I had this start on my car tonight! I got breakdown to come out to me and the guy was ADAMANT that it was the battery... He tested the alternator and it was charging pretty constantly at 13.7 and he said it was charging perfectly (this was with the light on and at idle). Tomorrow I will go and buy a batt from Halfords but am concerned that no-one hear thinks it could be the batt. The breakdown guy was trying to sell me a Unipart batt.... but I wanted to buy a Halfords/Bosch one - at the end of the day what do the breakdown guys know about C's - on the report sheet he called it a VW CORROSSA!!!!! :D Anyone know which batt I need for the VR (no aircon but all other elecs) - Bosch or Halfords own?
-
if the relay clicks - it is not the switch. Peel back the seat cover on the bumrest and you may find that one of the wires has burnt out , so you will need to bypass one of the elements. It is what was wrong with mine. Have a look.

I detested Highway - had terrible experience with them. Will Elephant not cover you? Nick

the back looks like a Ford Ka that's been molested!!!!

Dear Nick Given the choice of a well maintained, very tidy Corrado and a new Civic Type-R I'd take the VW every time. The CTR isn't bad but it looks like hatchback that swallowed a shed, its engine is rather on/off, and its handling lacks detail feel and feedback. Sure, it's grippy and it's quick if you're prepared to rev the nuts off it, and, yes, it probably is quicker in a straight line and around a track, marginally, but so what? The Corrado is a much more rounded driver's car. It's effortlessly real-world quick thanks to its torquey, characterful V6, and has neat and beautifully poised handling (helped by its low-slung build). It also rides comfortably, seats four and swallows their luggage and is so much better-looking than the Honda. Has he actually driven a Corrado VR6? I doubt it. Don't let him drive yours. And don't bother driving his CTR - it'll be hard to be polite if you're used to the understated brilliance of the Corrado, and I imagine you'd like to stay on good terms with him. I should post what Evo's John Barker wrote to me about about the CVR6 vs CTR debate!

No - it starts normally but I just get a pong of fuel on start ups but only when cold. I did have the fuel filter changed some time ago but have had a look there and all seems normal.
