don't know, all the hubs, drive shafts, wishbones, trackrods are being replace and the car won't have an engine in it for a few months so i'll have to get back to you  Youll have to make polishing your engine parts a full time job soon

    Too low for tracking

 Well now that you mention it  Where do you get yours done Lee ?? Leeds is just down the road 8)
  7. My name is J and Ive known him for quite a while now so he'll know who you mean.
  8. They are in Cleckheaton. If you come down the M62 from Leeds and come off at Jct 26 take the 2nd exit from the roundabout and follow signs for Cleckheaton. He’s just before the main High street on the Left and there is a big Auto Bodyfit sign. If you email or call Neil say that I gave you his details and he might give you a discount (He did for me 8) ) the money for my respray should clear in the bank next week so Im going to see him with the list that I want doing but he’s told me it’ll be around the 1k mark 8)
  9. Ive put new front top mounts on my car and the tracking was already out but seems to be worse now the wheels from the front look like this \ /  So I took the car to my local Charlie Browns/Motorsave and they told me that my car is to low to do the tracking :( They say that the new machine that everyone uses now wont fit over my wheels because of the arches and that maybe a specialist would be able to do it with the front bumper off   Ive got some 14" steels on at the min cos my alloys are off to be refurbed but because of the profile on the alloys tyres they are the exact same diameter inc tyres. I tried to get him to explain in detail why it wouldn’t work but he wasn’t interested. Anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do about it :D Also anyone living in West Yorkshire/Huddersfield area know of someone that will be able to do the tracking for me 8) Thanks J

    MikeyP's 16v

Welcome to the forum mate :D Im from High Wycombe I moved up here about 4 years ago. Birds always find a way to ruin your paint work but that’s just silly
  11. Thanks Henny Ill check all the earths when I get back home :D You say earth straps from the head. Without looking id say i only know of one strrap from the head to the coil. Where are the others ?
  12. Ive had this problem with the idle on my 1.8 16v for ages and nothing I do seems to sort it :( The rev needle at idle moves up and down just a little bit (2-3mm each way) which is really annoying. So i Checked the ISV and cleaned it out, checked and replaced (If needed) the vac hoses, Changed the inlet manifold gaskets (on advice from a garage) checked the microswitch and throttle cable (Think ive done more but cant remember at the min) So last night i had most of the the electrics on and the idle was perfect, the needle was rock steady  So this morning Ive checked over everything on the engine and alls fine except for the idle lol. BUT i started to turn some electrics on to see what happens. If at idle you turn all the electrics on (Heater, lights, fogs, rear window heater) then the idle goes mental going up and down to 1.5K - 2K for about 20 sec and then settles at about 950 and is rock solid like last night. No matter how much you rev the engine it goes straight back as it should. You have to have all of the above on for it to do this but once the idle is sorted if you turn off one of the electrics its ok but if you turn off two of them it starts to move again So there seems to be something electrical that’s not right !!! Anyone had this before and know how to sort it Thanks J

    Bailiff :(

Ive just had a note put through my door from a Bailiff :( It says that they want to remove my car for unpaid council tax. Problem is that the person named on the note isn’t me (or my G/F) and this isn’t the address on the note either  So I rang the Mr Russell and he just asked how long Id lived here and if I knew this person, which I dont. All he would say was dont worry about it :x I dont want to come out one morning to find my car on the back of a flatbed :x but im sure they cant remove my car as its in my name and not the person they are after. Can someone confirm that so I can sleep tonight

  20. Im not sure where they go though  If I put the seal into the manifold it will just fall into the head :(
  21. Ive just picked up the parts from the dealers and im really not sure about this  From the pic on etka it looks like the seal goes into the manifold followed by the inj insert but the seal is to small and will just fall down into the head  Am i looking at this completely wrong as Ive never changed these on a car before  The seals that Ive got have the right part number on the bag (Which was sealed) but knowing VW I might have the wrong parts  Can anybody enlighten me :D
