A joke indeed. I sold my 1996 VR6 with a poorly engine (which turned out to be crank bearings) for £1600 so £1500 for a car with no MOT or history is indeed a joke.

It's me who is selling these. And the auction has now ended. The winning bidder is on a ship and unable to pay until the end of next week, so fingers crossed the sale goes through. I'm a little disappointed that they went for only £112, tbh, as I bought them for £60, the refurb cost over £100, and they're mint. Ah well.

I have a standard flywheel for sale if you want it. It came off my VR6 when I had a Fidanza flywheel fitted and I sold the car with the Fidanza on. Not sure if the sums will add up as I'm down near Fleet & Camberley in Hampshire and it's a heavy bugger to post, but PM me if you're interested. (Probably doing myself out of a sale here, but why on earth are you taking the risk of lightening a stock part when you could buy a Fidanza from the states?)

Holy thread resurrection! I'm planning on selling my roof bars now that my Corrado is gone. I'll try and get them photographed and into the classifieds shortly. As mentioned earlier in the thread it'll be 1. Bars (761) 2. Foot pack (950) 3. Fitting kit (094) You do not need "Short roof adaptor (477)", but Yalan's post of 13th April 2008 02:55 PM is quite interesting, so maybe I'll chuck that in too.

I owned a 1996 VR6 for 14 years (just sold it last month) and it was only in the final few years that things went wrong, mainly due to them wearing out (like the Heater Matrix and the like). Bear in mind that even the newest cars are almost 15 years old now though.

I have the genuine original equipment kit distributed by Votex GmbH with electrics, removable hitch, and everything. The guy I bought it off says it had never been fitted (and its condition supports that) and I've never fitted it either. It's for sale if you want to make me an offer?

Incidentally, GSF quote £50 all-in for the part (#178VG0041 - manufacturer not stated). ECP are £29 all-in with free delivery, part # 214440011 and, again, manufacturer not stated.

It's cost vs benefit though, isn't it? Let's face it, these are old cars now and at the age where you begin to wonder if replacement parts will outlast the car (or at least your ownership of it). However, I agree - the GSF one is the way forward. The second-hand Mk2 item will be a false economy and the VAG one an unjustifiable extravagance.

Seems it's used (it's come out of a Mk2 Golf that was broken for spares) and it's still in its housing. So it's a toss-up whether to use it or the pattern part. I could spend as much labour on getting it out of its housing as the price difference between it and the new part. Edit: And as Portent says, the majority of the cost is going to be labour so I should probably get the new part.
