couldnt agree more buddy!! its because we will pay the fines and stop when asked to. you dont see mr burglar stopping when pc plod tells him too. but to be fair, mr burglar wouldnt get asked to stop because the law would never get there in time, if at all, to catch said burglar!! anyhow, back to number plates....

what a load of rubbish!! im sure these cameras will be able to read all sorts of plates, old, new and with or without illegal lettering. only way to stop them reading your plates will be to either not have any or cover them in mud and dirt! gotta love the filth, sorry police though, they do do a cracking job of looking after the crime in the country!!!! this country is a joke!

my engine has decided to start chucking out blue smoke while i drive it. this leads me to think either the valve stem seals are fooked or the piston rings are gone.so a head gasket set has been ordered which isnt a problem to do. however, i havent had any experience of working on the bottom end of an engine... so can someone give me a rough guide of whats needed for a rebuild and rough costs? any things i need to look out for and any good tips i can follow would also be helpful. i know its probably not completely necessary to rebuild the engine, but it gives me a solid base for further power upgrades..... cheers Rob

this morning i by passed the bypass valves and managed to gain alot of heating which was nice! on the downside my engine decided to start chucking out a truck load of blue smoke meaning some rebulding is in order!!

mite try the copper pipe trck before i embark on a matrix change!! and just to be more of a pain in the arse, the alarm fob is playing up aswell! god im glad i dont use this car everyday!!

i know everybody gets fed up with this but i just want a quick opinion on the problem before i attempt to fix this one.... heaters produce warm air until the car gets up to temperature and then all goes cold in the cabin. all engine temps are fine it is just the heaters in the car. most people say its the thermostat but i get the impression from here that it is more likely the crappy metal valves which go up to the heater matrix. i know replacing the matrix and valves is a big job and i also think replacing the thermostat is a pain i the hoop. so which problam is it do we all think...? any input appreciated cheers Rob

i think im now about to enbark on a voyage to replace my heater matrix as im hacked off with those crappy valves and no hot air!! just wondering which matrix to replace it with to eliminate said valves? will the mk3 golf matrix fit as this has no valves and i have a few knocking about!! cheers Rob

get a rallye u bend and a big front mount intercooler!!

how does bypassing the valves affect the matrix? why were they put there in the first place?

i put my car on the rollers at SCA but i wouldnt let them touch it. always do the work myself and/or get g werks to tinker!! Rob

i just cant believe how helpful you guys on the forum are! thanks for the offer! will make a nice brake upgrade with new discs, pads, calipers and brake lines!!!

sounds good to me! now all i need is some braided brake lines so i can put these new calipers on.

cheers, but im told you cant buy the valves anymore, is this true? someone suggested it could be a dodgy thermostat but im not convinced, always good to get second opinions though!

no it started to happen yesterday!! symptons at the moment are that i can get hot air coming from the heater for a little while, then it will go cold all of a sudden!!

i cant seem to get any hot air coming out of the vents in the car. the water temp doesnt get any hotter than normal and everything else seems fine apart from the lack of hot air in the car! any obvious suggestions, i will assume this has happened to many corrado owners!!! cheers Rob

i wouldnt worry too much about higher water temps. ive fitted a rallye intercooler (which i paid silly money for!) and have not had any issues. i think you have to move the radiator into another hole. i dont think you have to modify your towing eye quite as much as i did!!!

and its also a pain in the hoop to change!!

i fitted a rallye intercooler and it made a nice improvement to the torque and power bit had to come by though and it was tight to fit!!!

on the way back from the rolling road this morning the passenger window motor snapped the cable and jammed up, spent the rest of the day removing and replacing with a spare ive aquired, what a chore and dont recommend doing it!! there is no question to be asked in this comment, just wanted to vent some frustration!!!!! noting is ever easy with this car!!!!!! :evil:
