I'm a bit biased towards Alfa's as we used to have a 75 (inboard rear discs, 2 litre twin sp, rear mounted gearbox, rear wheels drive, last of the proper pre-Fiat Alfa's) and Dad's got one of these now which is really nice:

The 330D is a bit of a stump puller, so much in-gear acceleration!

My Inca blue one doesn't have any following a re-spray (there're sitting in their original plastic sleeves) and it looks much better IMO.

What are you waiting for! Get one of those fancy switchable chips with girl mode and man mode! :)

In the above grudge match, Clarkson still went for the Alfa as his car of choice! That engine is a peach. You don't buy an Alfa with you head, you but one with your heart. It's got the odds stacked against it on a VW forum for onwers of cars who generally place engiineering and quality above Italian styling and flair.

Yep, it said that too!

Give H100VW a pm and he can sell you an uprated loom. It's the first mod for any new Corrado owner. The bulbs are fine. The std loom uses a switch rather than a relay and as a result the bulb will get about 2v less than it should. I've got one and my lights are much better now. Also, use the search function as this has come up 00's of times :)

I was reading Practical Performance Car this month and they said that polishing it to a high sheen is a waste of time. Do what you can with paper but don't go any further. The article said that polishing it only serves to advertise what can be done to shift heads and generate business but in reality it doesn't make the engine more powerful.

Thinking of doing 1.8T swap....please give me ur input!
Neil VR6 replied to SleekG60's topic in Engine Bay
For the money you spend on doing the conversion you could make your G60 into a real monster couldn't you? Also, would your insurere take a dim view of engine swapping and bump up your premium? Just a thought? -
I don't have a torque wrench unfortunately. I would imagine that the rocker cover bolts don't need to be done up too tight as they don't bear much stress.

Nothing is ever as simple as it should be. That's what I've learned so far! I'm good as cussin' though so I should be fine!

Battle will commence on Saturday!

Always been synonomous with quality. They are also quite quiet I believe due to stringent laws on the continent regarding noise.

Cheers Henny. I'm painting (finally) my rocker cover. 113,00 miles of heating up and cooling down have made it flakier than a leper colony! I've also got a small oil leak from the gasket which I'm replacing at the same time. Do you use copperslip when reassembling the new gasket?

Is this a pig of a job? Has anobody got any tips? Will I need to take off bits of the fuel rail and other assorted pipes that I'm not keen on unbolting!? Cheers

Looks even better in the flesh! Hi Graham, hope the meet was good, I clean forgot about it!
-
Now you're just showing off! I thought you had to have an autoclave and all sorts of specialist equipment? (Or do you have all that gear!!)
-
Those bits look awesome. So did you have them custom done or are they available to "Joe Public"?
-
Funny you should say that actually, I haven't put my cap into the Rado and I can honestly say I can't hear the difference (and all the ICE is the same kit!) It's all a big conspiracy! My old install did sound awesome though, people always wanted my car going at the shows to provide the SaxoSportsClub's soundtrack!

It's a shame All Smiles don't have a web site

I'd give the set up a go before splashing out on new batteries and alternators. I ran about 1400w RMS in 3 amps in my old Saxo and the std battery was fine as long as the engine was running. I was waiting for it to go but it was fine! A halfway house between a std battery and an Ultima would be a diesel battery from another car. They supply a lot more juice and you don't pay a premium for having an "ICE Specific" cell. I think a cap would help as well. As a rough guide I've heard one Farad per 500w. As you're in Canterbury you could go down to Huet Car Audio in Hove. They are extremely knowledgable and very keen to help.

The ride has a lot to do with the wheels you're using. I'm using std 15s with 195/50 tyres. When I had 17s, the ride was awful as there wasn't much tyre between the wheels and the road
-
I've got a Koni kit (adjustable dampers and accompanying springs) and the ride is fine.

Just a guage needed here, I will take it into the local garage soon! There's a bit of slop in my steering that manifests itself at motorway speeds where seemingly subtle steering inputs need more input resulting in mild swerving! Also, if you boot it at 80mph-90mph the steering sometimes pulls to one side. The rear bushes are new and the fronts are poly items. Also, the tracking is spot on and tyre pressures are correct all round. Also, the tyres are brand new. Could this be bushes, ball joints or the rack? I assume VAg racks are extortionately priced? :( Cheers
