I think the cutaway of the G-Lader is cool. -

For me the whole CNUT things is a bit juvenile for my tastes. The kind of thing I used to wear when I was 15 and enjoyed provoking a reaction. Not meaning to offend :) -
As I said above the front engine mount is mounted onto a rubber bush-mounted beam anyway so it's not like a completely solid front engine mount. JMR mounts are £70.
-
You should move this one to exterior and you'll probably get more replies :)
-
I can also vouch for JMR solid ones. Much better power delivery and a race car style jerk when you start the engine! Seriously though, it has made a huge difference to what felt like driveline shunt and poor throttle response. The bar onto which it mounts is actually rubber mounted anyway so it's not like completley solid mounts. They're only £70 as well. Drop 16VG60 a mail and he can send you one. I'm sure he could advise you on a rear one too.

Nice colour, looks sound!

Mine only reaches 108 degress when you're going quick

Keep it sleeper, surprise a few Scooby's!

But I want a cooler engine! You mean LED washers aren't cool? :joker2:
-
I've had an oil cooler fitted but oil temps still get to around 108 on occassions. The coolant and oil was all flushed through a few weeks ago and the engine's in good order. I also use a stock airbox so it gets decent cool air?

Is it at all wothwhile to vent the bonnet? I know that most Max Power pikeys who vent their bonnets do more harm than good by effectively pressurising the engine bay and causing heat build up. Would a couple of carefully placed backwards facing louvres do anything for under bonnet temperatures? My only other worry would be rain getting in when parked. The car is parked outside all the time and I don't much fancy water running all over the engine. Any thoughts or wise words?

I used to go to Coys International meet at Silverstone and the pits used to reek of it, delicious!
-
Well I had a Saxo VTR before the G60 (and occassionally wear a cap when I've run out of hair wax) and I never behaved like a dick head! I didn't do too much racing though what with only having 100bhp!

Mainly women, although not exclusively, who hog the middle lane of the motorway no matter the conditions Women who sit too close to the steering wheel Old men who drive at 48.67mph no matter the conditions People that demonstrate poor spacial awareness by not driving through a gap the size of the Suez Canal even though their Range Rover full of privately educated children could drive over most cars People who's idea of indicating is catching the stalk with their finger as they actually make their turn People with tinted windows (you think you're too important to be seen, pah!) Drivers who overtake at no more than 2mph faster than the car they are attempting to get in front of People who tailgate when it's teeming with rain and you can't see past the end of your nose Drivers who don't thank me for letting them out, it's rude and I want to kill you Pikeys driving Sierra's who belch out plumes of blue smoke Baby on Board stickers, it's OK, seeing as you have an infant on board I definately won't ram into the back of you accidentally

Well I had the Miltek system and decat fitted at the same time so I cant really say as the exhaust on its own would have been louder. I've still got a mid box as well as a back box so it's not super loud. There's a brilliant sound when you accelerate hard but it's not too bad when cruising. It gets a bit boomy from 90mph onwards but nothing that a couple of amps and a sub can't handle ;) Also I don't do too many motorway miles any more so it's not an issue for me.
-
I would imagine there will be more noise as the cat is esssentially a silencer (in that it's an expansion box)
-
I used that £12 a pop Zymol stuff from Halfords and despite is smelling good enough to drink, when you polish it off it leaves sooo much white residue everywhere! The Turtle Wax Colour stuff seems to give a very good shine? Is this a bit pikey for your polish snobs :D ;)

Seems like a lot of mess to me?

That's what John at JMR does with my car. Exactly what VW intended. I'm sure oils have developed since the car was made but there are 2 schools of thought. One says use the most modern oil, full ester, detergent enriched oil to take advatage of the advances in oils OR use what the manufacturer recommends as the engine was designed for that oil in the first place. With me it doesn't matter too much. I'm paranoid about oil changes as dirty oil has such a detrimental effect on the charger. I only cover a few 000 miles a year and will change the oil every 6 months. I figure it's cheap (comparatively) and helps my charger to keep in good shape.

Fair enough but Castrol produce scores of different oils. I'm sure if you actually spoke to him he would recommend something other than Magnatec. That comment is about Castrol as a company and probably taken off Castrol's website by the way it reads, and is not specific about individual oils. When I spoke to him about my old car he said that Magnatec was not that good at all and all the spiel about "molecular attraction" was marketing hype. He recommended me a Silkolene Pro S oil. Second to that, he recommended Fuchs (who own Silkolene). The most critical thing about oil (apart from weight & viscosity etc) is how regularly you change it, most of the enthusiasts on this site change it so regularly that oil choice is less critical.

clean as a whistle! -
Ask oilman. He runs Opie oils and I'm sure he'd have something to say about these "supermarket" oils. He posted in another thread but I haven't seen him on the forum much though. They have a website: http://www.opieoils.co.uk

£55 to be precise! I got one :)
