  1. I've just renewed with elephant who's customer service was great. Obviously they were the cheapest as well, by £300!
  2. I also believe there is a similar clause in paragraph 7 regarding "Ford" ;)
  3. HA HA HA HA HA!!! I'm sure yours would G60Dan because it looks to be a bit an animal but think of the power to weight ratio difference. One of the guys had a stripped out VTS on throttle bodies and an LSD which was violently quick! 180 brake and about 850 kgs!
  4. I was on the SaxoSportsClub for about 2 years and whilst the car has a bad rep (mainly because it's quite nippy and affordable, low insurance, pikeys can afford it etc etc) it is an absolute belter. In fact a sorted Corrrado and a cam'd and chipped VTS would be quite a match round a track. In fact I would stick my neck out and say that the Saxo would show the C a clean pair of heels! (cue torrent of replies :D)
  5. Definately go and see John, I went down a couple of weeks ago and learnt so much about the car. It's not often you find somebody so knowledgable and enthusiastic about G60's! It's gonna cost me about a grand but the car will be sorted then. (And his Mrs made me coffee!) :D
  6. As you're in Southampton, you could conceivably get to Hove. Huets do all the feature cars for Redline (a good thing if you've seen their work) and know everything there is to know about all ICE and security. They charge more than a monkey in a van but do a good job. They are also approved by the VSIB for fitting alarms. http://www.huetcaraudio.co.uk (or .com :D)
  7. Don't use GAP whatever you do! See this thread: http://www.saxosportsclub.com/forum/pos ... &forumid=6 (I was Egg_Man when I had my Saxo)

    Ecotek???

They just make the engine run lean dont they? (great for forced induction  )
  9. Make sure they don't melt things with that current pull
  10. You should also check your rear suspension bushes as they have an enormous influence on how the cars feels and changes direction
  11. That's what you get with a load of franchises dotted all over the country, inconsistent workmanship. :(
  12. I took the car to JMR and it's definately the front engine mount. It's being replaced by a solid alloy unit that John fabricates. That should stiffen things up a bit!
  13. I figure that I sit in front of a desk for most of my waking hours and quite frankly hate it. I feel like I should go on some kind of reality TV show and go become a dolphin trainer or something, anything's better than this! The thing about becoming a mechanic is that the starting salary wouldn't even cover the mortgage, let alone Optimax for the 'Raddo! Andy, do you have any contacts at all? (BTW, the cars going to JMR for lots of work and a Miltek + decat  )
  14. Bit of a longshot here but never mind. I am a bored graduate in a relatively (stress that word) well paid job. However, that job is extrememly boring and being a petrol head I would much rather spend my time with my head under the bonnet of a car or at least in the automotive industry in some capacity. My degree is in Business Studies (which doesn't help) but I crave a job that I will enjoy. Is there any way of getting into the game without coming from an apprenticeship background. Also I have a mortgage now so I cannot take much of a pay cut! Also, I want to have my cake and indeed eat it. Any ideas, experiences, suggestions, paths? Ideas on a postcard please.
  15. I agree with vwdubs, great workmanship but the car's not my taste, too much stuck on plastic and not enough mods to show off the 'Rado's nice lines that VW designed!
  16. I'm super comfortable now :D
  17. Gulp, and how much is a new clutch? Can a std G60 clutch handle say 200 brake without too much trouble?
  18. Cheers Henny, that sounds much cheaper! Any suggestions for slightly buffer engine mounts?
  19. I thought somebody might say that :( I might get it professionally looked at by that chap at JMR. Cheers anyway (harbinger of doom!)
  20. My G60's done 111,000 miles and seems to be holding together very well. However, when I come on and off the power there seems to be more of a jolt than I think there should be. I'm not particularly ham footed with the clutch and the problems is exaccerbated by hard acceleration in the low gears (unsurprisingly). Still, even when crawling in traffic in 1st gear, there is a jolt when you gently apply and release the accelerator. Could this be a clutch release issue (I don't know when the clutch was last replaced) or an engine mount issue? Cheers.
  21. You're car looks very "OE plus" to coin the phrase. The wheels and the size suit the car perfectly
  22. I went from 17's to the original 15 inch BBS and I haven't looked back, ride and handling is leagues ahead IMO. No tramlining, no wrestling with the wheels to keep the car in a straight line, comfortable ride etc!
  23. I've got Koni adjustables and the ride is fine. The most critical thing to affect ride as well as how low you go is your wheel/tyre size. If you're running 205/40 R17's the ride is going to be a lot more jittery that if you're running 195/50 R15's. The Koni only lowers 35mm but any lower than that and you get bump steer, lack of suspension travel which results in bottoming out and a falling rate spring rate as the wishboes are pointing the wrong way at rest. Cutting out coils from a spring is potentially dangerous. If you want the car lower buy a shorter stiffer spring rather than cutting down a longer softer spring.
