well ive not managed to do the rear brakes, weather is shocking, just not worth it, i did check all axle bush bolts and caliper bolts and all are tight, also checked in boot for loose trim etc. i think its just low brake pads.
-
I took mine out and put it back in no problem at all.
-
are they an expensive type from gsf?
-
Doing it tomorrow if u happened to be free 8)
-
it just pulls out, unless its been bonded in the past. i started at the bottom and worked to the left.

ah a grinder key, i know what you mean! ill have a look, one of my mates might have the tool or a local garage if i get stuck.
-
yeah i agree i think its something linked to the caliper, because its only happening when braking, getting mrs to move the car and ill walk by the side and listen out, taking rear wheel off 2morow so will investigate further.
-
anyone know how much rear brake pads normally are?
-
Well that cant be case for me, i had rear axel bushes replaced last year. I can get the clink to happen by gently pressing on the brake peddle and it happens at same point in travel peddle every time. Going to get misses to move my car whilst i stand outsid it tonight. Does the rear calipers have pad shimms to stop movement of pads?
-
Good idea, ill see if anyone is local to help or who might have the tool. Sounds like its something ill need to do the job.

As you said, i replaced arb link that was knackered, thats not made a difference, i tightened top mounts little too, no difference. So i'm thinking the noise must be coming from back. It is a metalic metal on metal sound, and only one clink. Kind of like a dink if that makes any sense. I think its back brake pads being low so when i press pedal, brake pad is moving or caliper hitting disc.

i really cant afford wind in tool, can it work with G-clamp and some other tools, how does the piston actually retract into the carrier?
-
£8 off ebay fella.
-
is it simple, ie, undo bolts, push piston back, put new ones in, grease little, the re-fit? or anything else i need to do, should know?
-
if rear brake pads are worn down could that cause a little clink when braking?
-
When i brake at slow speeds i get a single knock, clink noise coming from the front. It doesnt happen at high speeds or in reverse. I had a look and noticed ARB drop link was knackered, so replaced it, but the noise is still there. it doesn't affect driving or braking. I checked all bolts on callipers, their up tight. I just dont know what it could be? **update** I checked my front top mounts, and i can turn the passenger top mount plate around, the bolt stays where it is, could this cause any movement causing the clink when braking? Please help! Neil

here is an update for anyone who has got the #4 camera with the orange time in bottom right, i gave the seller neatural feedback saying 'not as described but good customer service to help'. he messaged me and basically said if i remove the feedback he'll do anything to make me happy, so he's sent me another and all i had to pay was £2.40 postage for it from china to me, and i'm getting the better one with the yellow time in bottom right!
