Not that hard to change, I did mine in a couple of hours the other day. Bolt extractors are well worth a try, they've got me out of many a hole!
-
YES! all the time the ignition is on
-
Get it alligned. Seriously. My Corrado when I got it had sh!t tyres on but still gripped like B!ggery. Something's wrong even with cr!p tyres if she's sliding.
-
Sounds about right price wise.

The adjuster is probably seized on the headlight, whip it out and free it up with some lube spray etc. Get a 2nd hand one if you can't free it up and don't fancy the expense of a new one. Discs are no drama, if you need them, you need them... Sounds like a dream MOT to me! Mine are generally far more involved!

mine rarely run for more than that

I don't find that hard to believe, the expansion cap is there to provide pressure in the system to raise the boiling point of the coolant. If you remove the cap the water will boil at a lower temperature, quite possibly before the fans cut in.

That sound is tappets, VR6s are notoriously tappety when cold. As long as it quietens down, once they've fully pressurised then thats fine, nothing to worry about.

Purify/neutralise the petrol fumes?
-
absolutely, total waste of space, mine went a while back! :-)
-
You can get graphite powder from places that sell door locks, don't know if its a good idea or not though. I'd try grease or oil, sparingly.
-
Some maybe, but certainly not most. The pipe you describes goes to the valve that allows petrol fumes from the tank, once they have passed through the carbon cannister back into the inlet via the throttle body. Fume recirculation. No it wouldn't cause overheating Mark.
-
markeboy2005 is changing his thermostat though, not one of those sensors.
-
Its a VR6. It'll be the pipe that comes from the petrol tank via a valve( the sensor you referred to) and the carbon cannister. Get it replaced mate. Burst air hoses mean unmetered air entering the engine.
-
Not necessarily, if you want the absolute optimum then Yes, otherwise there will still be improvements without remapping.
-
It could be the tensioner making the noise but it wouldn't have anything to do with that whopping oil temperature.
-
Bad sh!t man, can't beleive the way way people just freeze when they here a siren, they're no help to anyone. Hope its repairable.

Steam rising in traffic.. I suspect something's wrong....
andy replied to CharlieC's topic in Engine Bay
Agreed, top her up with water first though mate. You may well find you can see where the steam is coming from, I recently had similar experiences and found when I lifted the bonnet there was steam escaping from a pin hole in a hose. £35 later, easy fix. Try a VW specialist if you have no joy and aren't keen on VW stealers prices. -
Quaife Differential...£600 worth of automatic torque biasing for your front wheels. ie say good buy to wheelspin and say hello to some severe nailing round bends with oodles of grip. I want one :-)
-
Yep, I've had this twice now, it can cause all manner of idle problems.
-
Almost certainly the water pump, I developed a leak where the belt is last week. The pump was leaking and water was running down the side of the block and dripping out below the belt. I replaced it and it seems ok now. £25 from GSF

You don't alter the tickover using VAGCOM, the ISV takes care of that.

Peter Cooper Portsmouth are never in a good mood in my experience. They are shite in the extreme :-) Edit: We'd rather you didn't obfusticate the swear filter, but if you really must - at least edit your original post rather than posting again ;)

Soo funny. I used to have some of those triple air horns in my old mini, that gave a few people a shock. Small car BIG horn :-)
