Maplins or RS components.

Yes a badge!!! Sorry two!! Strictly speaking you don't really have something that other Corrado owners don't have, you have something that 500 other Corrado owners have. Badges wahey! I think 8v models will be fetching an inflated price soon, what with their more exclusive 8v badges and all that!!

I think that is the point of this thread, a lot of people can't understand what the Storm is about. There isn't really anything to appreciate, its just a badge thing. If I were given a choice of a Classic Green Storm or an exactly the same Classic Green standard VR, what would I choose? Obviously the Storm because it will be worth much more to the next badge conscious person who's looking for one. It is in no way at all a better car. When I say a standard VR, what do I mean?... one without the badges!!! I wish VW had tweaked the Storm in some way, perhaps supercharged it or VSR'd it or something, then it would truly be worth more. Its just a con imo to make people who don't realise that Storms are no different pay more for the badge.

I knew it! Glad its sorted :-)

No, good hard cash, £50 notes to be precise! I wouldn't buy a £500 car without hearing it run or driving it tbh. Still I can honestly say there were no nasty secrtets with the Corrado, it was top notch everything worked perfectly. Unlike my regular one. :-(

It is very slow at the moment, I've just parted with my project, a 96N VR6 with leather in very good condition, new chains, clutch etc for £4.5k. When I bought it I thought it might go for £5.5k on a good day. It was advertised on all the free VW forums, received lots of compliments but only two interested buyers. One bought a much cheaper example, the guy that finally bought it saw it in Autotrader never even started it, never sat in it so therefore never even drove it, was well impressed by its looks and condition and handed over the cash. Unbelievable but my only interested party by then, so I had to take it.

Corrado Spotting! Was it you? [Archive November 05]

Gutted I thought I had the only grey VR in the area. :!:[/quote:c5463] There must be three of us because I've got one too! -
Funnily enough, my duff bearing came from GSF..... Something I should have said, my droning sounded very much like it was coming from the front, so much so that I changed a front bearing unnecessarily. Well worn tyres can cause droning but if yours have lots of tread I doubt its that. My money is on bearings...
-
It could still be bearings, I've just changed a rear bearing that was less than a year old, I had a constant droning noise, a bit like I was running on flat tyres. This was only identified after I realised I could feel the droning through the back n/s strut whilst someone else drove the car. The bearing exhibited no symptoms whatsoever, no roughness, no play just drone and it had done less than 10k miles. When I took the old bearing off, some of the parts were pitted and worn prematurely, just a duff bearing. New one in, very quiet!

Get a repair kit from someone on here, (Is it Dave16V?) I've got one and its top notch. They were £5 delivered.
-
I think you'll find them very well recommended on here mate, a lot of people have them in Audioscape Door pods. Don't bother with the 130a though, I've got them and whilst the quality is outstanding they're just not big enough imo.

Just come off the phone to the stealers, they reckon the part no. is as follows; 536 863 241 C01C Apparantly 535 XXX XXX would be for a LHD model, so we need 536 XXX XXX. The C01C is the colour code (Black). The bad news is the price, they want ....wait for it.... £112.93 +VAT!! Someone please tell me the stealer is wrong. :-(

let the buyer beware
-
Not too sure, it had a part no. LM something. I'll stick some photos up and try and find out. Its a bit p*ss poor tbh.
-
Cured it. Hurrah! :-) New bearing, the old one felt perfectly smooth to spin when the brakes were off, no roughness, no play, yet when I took it apart the larger bearing had a distinct wear band on the outer race it was also fairly pitted. (It's only done 10k miles ish) The small outer bearing was A1. Put the new one on and its soooo quiet. Cheers for comments guys.

I've got a deep spoiler on mine with the above setup and I have lowering top caps and don't have any clearance issues. Don't expect the car to ride as well but do expect it to handle much better in general, it just feels much more planted and on a good surface the improvement is very evident. The car feels much more stable at high speed.
-
Cut the bumptops down by the ammount that you are lowering the car, ie 30mm drop, lop 30mm off the bumpstops. Also well worth checking you've got the right type of top plates to fit your new springs, they may not be the same diameter as your old top plates(front only I think). On the rear my new Koni damper shaft was wider than the old damper shaft, meaning I had temporary issues getting the new shaft through the top mounts.

There is a small lever inside the door which connects the button to the lock mechanism, it could be broken, its a bit puny. Ijust replaced one of mine as the driver's door button wasn't working correctly. Just a thought, does the button still go up and down when you operate the cl via the keyfob?
-
Cool, that's not too bad really, cheers. Don't suppose anyone knows the part no?
-
I've got two VR6s but one is for sale....hint ;-)
-
cheers bud, I'll try and find a non dented one first but might well take you up on your offer if I can't get one. thanks
-
supercharged is right mate, definately don't want to torque the rears otherwise I will be replacing them often! Think I'm going to get a pair of VW discs and bearings and see if that sort things out.

I can't remember now, it was last year. The new front one I put on was German so I have reasonable confidence in it, the backs may have been Jap though.
