I dropped my car with my mechanic mate to get the MOT sorted yesterday, they use another local garage for testing. It passed, which i was well impressed about, but the tester advised my mate that the engine sounds a bit strange, almost like theres a split vaccum pipe... :shock: When my mate said you realise its supercharged dont you they guy went 'oh really?' he said didnt you open the bonnet and wonder what that lump of metal was? the guy said 'i didnt even notice, people do all sorts of things to tune VW's dont they.' my mate tried explaining that it was built that way, but it fell on deaf ears. :roll: I wont be going there for a charger service then.. :lol:

TBH, i wouldn't bother. if youre thinking of changing soon anyway, you wont get close to getting back the refurb cost if it can be done. a couple of sets in good nick have gone on here for no money. get saving!! :lol:

I've been working for mini for 2 weeks and had chance to drive the whole range including the works model [which i beg for every lunch time!] size wise i've been sat in the back on test drives with customers, i'm 6'2 and not a small lad and find it fine. admitedly, i wouldn't like to be in the back for a long journey and if your sat behind someone else at 6' plus, it'll be very tight. there's bags of head room though, something we lack in our C's! The charger is noisy and it's not a 'nice' charger noise tbh. As for it seeing off a VR, it wouldnt in standard form, but the works being 210bhp and similar in weight to the VR would hold its own...

yup, £1000-£1500 would be realistic.. however, im coming to the opinion that there is far better choice avaulable for the money.

Talc, yup, breaking is apparently very poor. however, the G40 charger is regarded as being far stronger than the G60, but much more difficult to obtain if it does blow.
