We had an M reg VR6 come in on the scrappage scheme. Really clean showing 102k on the clock. I've done my damnedest to make sure it doesn't go to waste by selling as much as possible. All major components have gone to good homes now and as such I feel a little better not as good as having it sat on my drive though… :-(

Yeah he was gonna open up the cat, empty it and re-weld it up but turns out it was too difficult to do. He made a de-cat pipe instead. Pulls much better and isn't too bad on the noise front (was expecting much worse if I'm honest) it's made a difference but as I said, our cat was probably blocked up from when the stem seals were causing it to smoke like a chimney! Pulls as a valver should now!

Central locking switch in the door handle faulty?
VeeDub Geezer replied to VeeDub Geezer's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Ok. I've just been clearing out my stash of parts and found a good handle from when we changed the locks to a set that uses one key and ordered a Daves16v kit so I can fit and forget… that's my Saturday afternoon gone then  Thanks guys -
Central locking switch in the door handle faulty?
VeeDub Geezer replied to VeeDub Geezer's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
So if I got hold of another handle (which has a ruined thread for the securing screw) I couldn't use it for parts? -
Ok, for a while now locking the car on the key has become a game of luck it will lock perfectly one time, but only lock the drivers door the next. The remote central locking works fine on both doors, boot and petrol flap everytime so this discounts the pump in the back as being faulty. Is there a replaceable switch on the handle? Could it simply need cleaning up? Thanks Aaron

The VAG one is a true 1993... Real mash up of early and late! I'm so geeky it hurts :-(

Ours turned out to be the classic hall sender. All sorted now.

Ours has gone in to have the cat gutted. The cat will be mullered as the cars stem seals were knackered for ages before we fitted a fully rebuilt head from KR. Hoping it will make some difference...

Regularly see a bluey grey C H101*** I think? Always waves! Saw a red one in Thame, Oxfordshire a couple of months ago. Driver gave a friendly smile... I was in the green C with the reg J666***

I used these blades but used second hand "base" spec Lupo wiper arms. Can't fault it and cost a lot less than the infamous Lupo GTI setup!

As much as I hate bumping old threads... What did you do to get it running? I've got exactly the same problem.

It's funny you should post this... Mine cut out en-route to work Wednesday. Just tried swapping the coil to no avail when you say ignition swith, is this a simple swap or will it need joining to the loom?
-
Have the 9A coils been changed to a smaller, more modern type? Mines given up the ghost and so looking for a replacement but can't seem to find one that matches the one currently fitted (Part nos : BOSCH 0221 600 064 + VW 535 905 115) can I replace this with a Mk3 Golf/Mk4 Polo dry coil with built in module? I'm not keen on this idea as I'm well aware of how unreliable these later coils are (they may as well be a service item!) but needs must as they say... Also, eBay brought up an interesting find in a coil listed for the KR but looks like a Mk3 Golf one, albeit with the 3 pin plug at the rear (this would make sense considering the layout of the Corrado) anyone help shed some light? Aaron

its a 2.0 16v it works out £33 inc vat and £7 inc vat if i needed a new expansion tank cap anyone know a good way to clean out the tanks?
-
i would buy a 2nd hand one (i work in a salvage yard) but the only reason we are changing is because it is filthy. as for the hoses, they have nearly all been changed over the last year.. lol i may get one and see what the quality is like
-
Just driven my bros 8vgolf, and my 16v is boring compared
VeeDub Geezer replied to bubcuss's topic in Engine Bay
the 2.0 got longer ratio's as it is actually a Passat 'box iirc -
anyone bought an expansion tank from Euro Car Parts? i dont fancy paying out £33 inc for a stealers one... lol £9.47 + vat seems more reasonable!
-
care to elabrorate on which one?
