    Thanks

    Andy

  2. Hi Thanks for the reply and you are right the induction growl is great with the cone filters but i was after one to go in my airbox Cheers Andy
  3. Hi is this a panel filter to go in the airbox or a cone type thing? Thanks Andy
  4. Hi I had the same problem with a valver in my old scirocco i took the dizzy apart and took the seal to a seal shop in stafford they couldnt supply a single one the right size but told me to just fit two instead that together were the same size worked a treat! The seal wasnt availiable seperately from vw although i think they could give me dimensions of it but it was nearly 20yrs ago all they could do was sell me a new dizzy for a failed 20p seal! The dizzy has to be completely disassembled to get to the shaft seal i remember it was abit tricky but i found a guide online somewhere Hope this helps Andy
  5. Hi have you still got the engine and gearbox?

    Andy

  6. Hi ashley

  8. Hi ashley

Im up in cannock staffs so a fair old jaunt away from you and i just dont have time to come down and remove an engine and box wifey just wont go for that

Soooo how much would you want to remove the engine and box and pallet carrier it upto me

I can have it delivered to work (im a mechanic anyway) so an engine in the corner untill i can get it to my house or maybe my mates unit who is also a mechanic, or my house but that would mean a weekend residential delivery which i belive costs more!

Dont suppose you could do a quick compression test for me to confirm the condition?

    Thanks

    Andy

  9. Hi ashley

  10. Hi Why did you change the airfilter was it wet? If it was do a compression test
  11. Oh and new vac hose isnt going to do any harm they dont usually need clips as long as its a nice tight fit it will be ok I used some silicone vac hose i had lying around from previous jobs
  12. Hi They probably will be as if has run but if its a non runner standard checks are spark and fuel so if is sparking the next check is fuel, you have fuel at the rail so are the injectors working? You should have a constant live and a switched earth at the plug i have a set of noid lights for this but you can use a test light or multimeter to check them and make sure the ecu is switching them As it was running just before it stopped its unlikely they arnt switching so as youve got a fpr on order just pop that in and try it Mine was abit stuck in the rail be carefull not to damage the rail too much when you persuade the old one out Andy
  13. Oh just check you have a spark first if you have then thats pretty much all it can be! Fuel to rail Injectors switching? Andy
  14. This is all sounding very familiar sometimes mine would run then it wouldnt then it had no power at all I checked the maf etc same as you and no fault codes on vag com Natural conclusion fpr! I got mine off ebay (probably not the best) but it worked and fixed the car i think it was around £20 so not enough to worry about Andy
  15. Hi When i got mine out after 4 years standing it had very similar symptoms running rich and not picking up at all turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator in the fuel rail so i nice easy fix i fitted a 4 bar one to help atomisation abit Andy
  16. Hi What dox said! Or even an old bolt thats long enough and threaded all the way up cut the head off screw into hole then if its crucial for alignment of whatever goes on the end cut and or grind or file a nut down so its the same thickness as the existing bolt head tighten it down and the use another regular nut for whatever goes on the end If alignment isnt important just use a regular unabused nut Thats what id be doing if i was stuck with a car that didnt work just because of a bolt missing at least then you can still use it whist waiting to get the right bolt Aki
  17. Hi

Sounds great im after something to replace the timebomb 170k engine ive got at the moment

If you could find evidence that would be the cherry on the top

    Are the prices negotiable?

    Thanks

    Andy

  18. Hi

    Where are you based?

Has this engine got a genuine 50k on it?

Any dodgy noises from it if youve had it running?

    Thanks

    Andy

  22. hi guys been away a while as the corrado is safely nestled in the garage and now using a passat tdi to get to work (saving me £150 a month in fuel) anyway the corrado still comes out occasionally and it has developed a weird fault! the abs warning comes on and doesnt go out untill mainbeam is on and the heater fan behaves in similar manner, also the lights dont work either i guess something is backfeeding due to a faulty switch or relay strange but true! anyway i was just going to chuck another fusebox and relays at it but wondered if anybody else has had anything similar? cheers andy ps car is a vr6
  23. hi yep tried washing powder! just make sure its not going to foam up (washing up liquid is a no no!) dishwasher fluid may well work too! i even know of rover technicians using floor cleaner on k series! just make sure that you flush it all out afterwards a few times to make sure its all gone!! andy

    Electric cars

hi i really dont understand the investment in battery powered cars its all pointless!(unless you only do very small journeys) the future is hydrogen fuel cells simple! why cant all the manufacturers spend the cash on fuel cell development instead! batterys cannot be a long term solution they are just a stop gap knee jerk solution ,the range frankly is terrible, youve got to charge them somehow using coal, gas, nuclear power take your pick, they weigh literally a ton, what is the lifespan of these batterys and how much will it cost to replace them? how much lithium is there really out there for these batterys? i know battery technology is constantly moving forward but we all know fuel cells are the solution! fuel cells use hydrogen which lets face it is pretty abundant it can be stored at existing garages (the tanks are going to need replacing) and simply top up when you run low (just like petrol etc) and water as an emission! the perfect solution to the personal mobility problem! the only downside is that as im a mechanic theres going to be fewer and fewer moving parts meaning theres going to be fewer and fewer mechanics required so i will be jobless! best keep using internal combustion untill i retire! (25 years! ) my 2p andy

    Porchse 944

hi i also faced this dilema decided upon a corrado as i figured the porsche was going to cost too much to run as mechanical, engine and suspension parts arnt shared with mainstream cars (golf passat etc etc) hence porsche parts were going to cost alot more . i might be wrong though! im still tempted with a turbo 944 though! andy
