hi its pretty easy to change the injectors when the inlet manifolds removed and also best to change the injector seals £2.35 each is shocking just get the measurments from vw and call your local seal shop "arf arf" theres one in stafford on the marston road called gpt seals 01785 259423 thats where i got mine from at a proper price for a small rubber ring just make sure they are suitable for fuel usage! i think its viton they use or something like that! theyre great any seal any size give them a bell! andy

try ashley competition exhausts they do a 16v 4into1 fitted my scirocco perfectly think they do a mk2 golf one as well! may fit the corrado too worth a go, they made a custom system for my corrado perfect fit!! freindly and helpfull they also make a vr6 manifold! http://www.ashleycompetitionexhausts.com andy

cheers steve thought as much, figured it was worth a go to see if anybody else had the same or similar problem does anybody know if the gendan fault code reader is any good, thats assuming there is a fault code and the relevant sensor isnt still "in range"!! vag com would be good as i should be able to see live data but its a bit pricey! unless anybody knows a cheap source?! cheers andy

hi guys just wondering if anybodys had a similar problem my 93 vr6 has a severe lack of power during warm up. its fine when cold (not that i thrash it obviously) and flies when its hot (temp gauge at about 80) but inbetween its holding back as if theres no fuel injection going on, or ignition advance possibly!! im thinking lambda probe but just wondering if anybody else has had a similar fault. many thanks andy
-
hi has anybody managed to "blink " test an obd1 vr6 ive got some running problems and cant afford vag com! im hoping it will same me time testing every possible culprit if i can persuade the ecu to help me out a bit!! many thanks andy

hi any joy with these chips do they work and increase power (on a vr6) andy

Nope. I was seriously thinking of trying to have a look inside the control box itself. It cant be that complicated in there. Anyone had a looksee ? nope its not too tricky inside the control module just 3 relays from what i remember and some electrickery gubbins, i had all sorts of probs with my fans untill i took the module off the car and shook it..... it rattled! cracked it open and resoldered the bits that had dropped out of the circuit board and its been fine for the last 12months or so!!
-
hi i had the same problem with the fan contr9ol module...it rattled too! easy just crack it open (a bit fiddly) all it is is a box with 4 relays in it and two diode type things just solder them back in as they get hot and drop out of the circuit board hence the rattle! cured and saved a few quid! andy

hi do you get a loud rattling/knocking noise when turning left and or right? if so one or poss both outer cv joints could be worn enough to cause the driveshaft to whirl at speed causing the vibration.also check the inner cv joints for wear and check the mounting splined bolts are all tight and the driveshafts are straight!! all of these would also cause the clunk as you take up drive! all the best andy

hi how long did it run ok for? if the cam timing was out for a while you could have burnt out an exhaust valve,do a compression test to rule out any sealing or engine issues first! andy
-
hi the cable is adjustable by moving the small metal clip into grooves in the plastic end of the cable on the throttle body, check the throttle butterfly is fully open when the throttle pedal is on the floor if it isnt, theres your problem!! dont loose the clip!! andy
-
hi its probably worth checking your camber and tracking just to make sure but wear on the outside shoulder of the n/s/f tyre is fairly normal and due to speeding around islands (easy in a corrado) its exaggerated if the tyre is underinflated and has soft sidewalls ie cheaper softer riding(comfortable) tyres its always the n/s/f tyre that wears quickest!!! just a thought andy

hi does anybody know if the tdi clutch is similar its probably uprated to cope with the torque, could be worth a try!! andy
-
hi cheers guys the car is completely standard as far as the suspension goes i just renewed everything that wears at about 120000 miles so about 10000 ago! and ive got through 6 ball joints in that lengh of time!! as i always change in pairs i have set the camber at negative 1.8 degrees which is the maximum tolerance but im goin to have to try some vw ball joints and not think too long about the cost!! going around curbourgh at the wkend so have to get it done before then eh! cheers again andy
-
hi guys im having problems with bottom ball joints on my vr6, so far ive fitted europarts ones and gsf ones and they only seem to last 3months before they start knocking. has anybody else encountered this problem or is it just me? im wondering if the problem is that they just supply puny golf ones that arnt upto the job of controlling the heavy vr6, just a thought! andy
-
cheers guys got to be worth a go then eh! wonder if itl make any noticable difference, but if its a better gasket it could prevant any future problems, worth a punt.... :) andy

hi, ok ive polished and ported a spare vr6 head, matched and polished the inlet and exhaust manifolds and ive got a pair of 264 kent cams to go in! as ive got to take my old head off to fit my "new" one i wondered if it was worth fitting a mk4 vr6 head gasket as ive seen on vw vortex that a few people are suggesting fitting one as it may increase compression a bit.sorry compression ratio.which hopefully might liberate an extra horse! possibly even two! i realise that it will only increase the compression ratio marginally, but as they say "every little helps" as ive got to fit a head gasket of some sort! i may as well raise my compression even if its marginal. as im not planning on force inducing my engine it wont hurt to raise my c.r.a bit if possible! so is the mk4 gskt thinner? and will it fit on a 2.9 vr6 circa 1993 cheers andy

hi just a thought..........well outside the box, didnt ford rs turbos run k-jet injection? thats assuming the k star thing is increases the fueling via the coldstart injector on a k jet injection system!? theres lots of crashed ones and it might be simpler than creating a new injection system! .....i might be wrong though as im not too familiar with these fordy things :? surely somebody used k jet with a turbo! andy
-
hi guys just a quickie, ive been on the vortex and it seems that the suggestion is to use a mk4 vr6 headgasket to raise my compression ratio abit has anybody tried this and is it true? if its gonna raise the comp a bit its got to be worth a go! cheers for any help andy

hi sorry if its late if the car only failed on the lambda then the chances are that theres an air leak somewhere! look for any exhaust leaks or inlet manifold leaks, usually quick and simple as long as the co was below 0.20 then thats all it can be if the co is sky high and wont come down when the cat should be hot then the cat aint working if the co and hc are marginal take the car oyt for an "itallian tune up" to get the cat really hot and try again! hope this helps, equally relevant to any cat equiped motor! andy

hi just a quickie, does anybody know if the 288mm calipers and carriers off a vauxhall (vectra or similar) fit on a vr6 corrado? as theres alot more in scrap yards than highline vr6 golfs! i know the 280mm calibra turbo calipers and carriers fit on a mk1 gti with very very little modification, just a thought for a cheap conversion. andy

hi must make a small difference most carbed engines have a small (usually about 10 to 15mm thick)plasticky sort of spacer between the manifold and the carb,so it must isolate the manifold or carb from the heat of the head i think it probably makes more difference on very highly tuned engines where gains of a few percent can actually be measured!! but i suppose every little helps, depends how much it costs for hp gain i guess!

hi, so will my existing motronic learn its new parameters after fitting some new cams to my diy polished and ported head and manifolds (prob 264 as im after torque not crazy horsepower at 7000 rpm) the existing cams peak at 5800 i think the factory rev limiter comes in at 6300 and thats fast enough for me! out of interest how fast will a vr6 spin before it throws a rod out the side of the block? vw obviously decided that 6300 was fast enough i dont mind increasing that rev limit a bit but im thinking 264's wont encourage me to thrash my car low down grunt is what its all about! thats what makes chargers so tempting! if i could afford one......where is peak power produced with 268s and where is the torque peak i could be tempted with 268s as long as the peaks arnt too high up in the rev band! obviously a remap will remove the vw rev limit at a later date,as long as the 268s give tha same or more torque as the 264s them why not! but id rather have for example 20nm more torque at 4500 rpm than a 5 bhp increase at 7000! ive finished my head the ports are very shiney (exhaust shinier than inlet) and the inlet ports are matched to the manifold i took them out to the gasket holes it was surprising how much material i had to remove most noticably from the more oval ports than the round ones, took a while but easy enough with a dremmel anybody know why there are numbers stamped inside the inlet ports? i havent done any reshaping further down the port just removed enough metal to make it smooth! o and ive taken a bit off the guides so that they arnt as angular! i noticed that there is a seam in the valve bowl area right behind the valves that causes a proper lip sticking out into the flow so that was removed an shaped to make it smooth, also the short side radius was very angular and impossible to get to properly with my dremmel so i used strips of wet and dry through the port to remove any edges and they are now a smooth constant radius. should i cut the guides off flush or leave them sticking out as they arnt very long to start with and i havent seen a "properly done" vr6 head! sorry for banging on for ages :) andy

hi guys im in need of advice..ive polished and ported my own vr6 head, gave it a go figured id nothing to loose! im going to be fitting new cams of some sort probably in the region of 264 (regrinds hopefully) possibly 268s if dougherty can sort me out a pair at a reasonable cost ive also polished and ported the inlet manifold and exhaust manifold and having a go at the throttle body as well! firstly are the vr6 cams different in their duration to cope with the differing inlet and exhaust tracts? and will my standard motronic management cope with this sort of modification. ie will it run ok (i know to realise the full potential its gonna need a remap) cheers! andy

hi i would be very interested in finding out how good these chips are, anybody had any joy yet? andy
