You'll have to PM KUR2Y, I think he has taken over from Gavin (H100VW) as the master of the looms.

anyone know the whereabouts of KUR2Y? I would like to get hold of an quality uprated room. ed
  6. green vr6 in a carpark in loughborough, any takers?
  7. woops that top paragraph in the last post "should" have been a quote
  8. I read on the other post about G11 and G12? What the hoobastanks is thems?! Never heard of em before and can I get it from Hellfords or the likes? VW occasionally update the coolant they use. So G12 is newer than G11. Use the most upto date coolant available, but don't mix different types of coolant. G12 is a nice pink colour......helps to find leaks easily........speaking of which :(
  9. Both driver and passenger mirrors adjust now, think they just need moving occasionally to stop them seizing.
  10. Have same problem will try the WD-40. Also the drivers mirror will adjust sometime, but on on only on Tuesday before 10pm when there is a ful moon,
  11. Engine being rebuilt by Stealth. :-( Will collect in a couple of weeks
  12. Have you had any problems associated with exchanging the head? Choices choices so many choices.
  13. OK then whos had experience of cyclinder head rebuild? As this will be the route I'll take if I can get away without having the bottom end rebuilt. Are these rebuild reliable and robust? Will I be opening 'another' can of worms?
  14. Everyone says that Stealth are the future. If the car "only" need a cyclinder head rebuild I can afford that. But full engine rebuild is too much for my current climate. Timing gear does rattle around 2000rpm. I thought it would rattle throughout the rev range when it is knackered?
  15. The 60K warrenty is very surprising, but the conditions are that you have a service with them every 6 months.

  17. finding Hills round this way is a bit difficult. I'll look for smoke under hard acceleration and on overrun like suggested by stealth.
  18. no problem Edd. I get from full oil level to half in 500-1000 miles of driving (sorry I can't be more exact. I use Synta (sp!) I think it's 10W-40 (but I'll check) was using castrol magnetec for a while. Plugs are Bosch (they were changed at last major service 5000miles ago.
  19. she still pulls well and I have never noticed any smoke. Whatever happens I have decieded to keep her going and not place a different engine in.
  20. thanks for the advise Roger. I gave up on VAG a while ago when they said it would be £75 to read off fault codes on a VAG-COM. I take my car to lion garage. Their opinion was a total rebuild, but as they don't perform that type of work it was taken with a pinch of salt. This was also only based on the fact the spark plug was fouling (in fact the was no gap on one side of the plug). Second opinion is definatley required, but do I have to wait for plugs to oil before it can be looked into?
  21. There is a rattle that can be heard under acceleration. It's not looking good/sounding good is it?
  22. it's done 123K. And is completly standard. Having had the fouling plug replaced yesterday should I wait till the engine runs as a V5 again and get a second opinion? Or could this be dangerous wrt valves hitting pistons??
  23. Hello everyone, I recieved some bad news yesterday. My engine needs a rebuild. Took it to the garage because it was stuttering at low revs under accleration. Turns out the spark plugs are fouling with oil, very bad in one cyclider the plug had to be replaced. Sank my sorrows with a few pints of ol' speckled hen last night, but now I am back and positive. This is a positive opertunaty isn't it? What I am after is all the knowledge people have of rebuilds. Is it worth it? How much? Have you had a rebuild? What are your experiences What should I ask each company? What work should I make sure they do? Who have a good reputation? I have used the search already and phoned Stealth. They quote £2700+VAT for full rebuild. Phoned a company in Twickenham, they quote £1600+VAT. Why such a large difference? Whats the best way to get a second opion? ed thanks all
  24. Red Corrado spotted going towards Hathern last night, male driver waved back at me. Black Corrado spotted at EMA, I waved, you didn't see me.
  25. just phoned John at Brentacre he couldn't get near my quote from the RAC, he said it must be a mistake and I should check it again.......no mistake £380 for 25yr old, 3 year NCD, driving 7000miles. That's just for me, unfortunatley the quote went up to £550 when I added the wife. I'm feeling smug now, and the fuel leak is fixed (for now...possibly.....I think/hope). thats with kinetic insurance through the RAC. HIC gave me a quote with kineic but it was £70 more expensive.
