Update. The police have interviewed him this morning and his solicitor advised him to accept the restorative justice order, rather than pursue it, as he would likely fail, and have a mark on his record. Anyone know what this actually means? Is it a posh slap on the knuckles?

Cheers Jim, Yes that was prety much my reaction after I'd calmed down. He was insured, Yes Police are doing a good job considering there is not much to go on. He was offered a voluntry warning, but refused to accept that he was being abusive. so they have to take it to a formal interview, and the potential to charge him with a public order offense. We will see.

Grr, Its not been my year. I was involved in an incident last Friday. I (Green Line) was traveling home from work, with the intention of turning left into my road. (dotted Green Line) The other vehicle (Red Line) cut up the bus lane to avoid the width restrictions. I was indicating left and intended to continue onto the roundabout to turn left, However, the other car which was about to undercut me did not stop at the give way line and made contact with mine before the roundabout. We then pulled onto the side road to discuss things. After a bit of swearing about how I should have seen him. He said he had no option but to admit he was at fault because he had used the bus lane to avoid scratching his alloy wheels on the width restriction. He agreed at first that and it was my right of way, but wanted to leave it there because there was minimal damage to his car. When I showed him damage to mine (ok its not much, but the car is looking the best it has since I owned it, and was pretty hacked off with his attitude) and said it was going to be an insurance claim, he became irate. As he felt I was being selfish and thought that it was my fault because I had slowed for the roundabout. My Insurance company are all over it, as he refused to give me his name, although I got vehicle details, and advised me to contact the police, as he used extremely threatening behaviour, and threatened to kick me to the ground and kill me for making him out to be at fault. I have details of witnesses who saw it, and these have been given to cops and Insurance. Skip to today, The Police came over and took a statement, and have been to see the owner of the vehicle, It now turns out that he is adamant he was not being aggressive, and whilst he agrees to the damage, and would offer me money for it. He denied being abusive, so the police want to take statements from my witnesses (who only agreed to be insurance witnesses at the time) The WPC advised just now that in the video he took on his phone of the damage, he can be heard ranting and calling me a c%%t. So the Police are looking to take it forward and have arranged a formal interview this coming week. Thankfully, the insurance company have agreed it was him at fault, and I have taken it to the local crash repair site for a quote. I just hope they can match 19 y/o Aqua Blue as well as my guy at work.

Its Boxster. :)

:) Nah, It was my first thought, But this guy worked in their Accounts Dept.

Mine was a company car from someone who worked at Bearings Bank before it collapsed in the mid 90s, It was supplied with a letter from the bank offering the car as part payment of a salary when the guy was made redundant. The history also shows a hefty labour invioice to correct the ashtray which was dropping down rather than a smooth drop on press of the button.

Went down to the workshop today to have a chat with one of the Techies, and saw this monster. I'm not allowed to say what was wrong with it, but it definately did not fare well on the track last week. Part of me thought it might be a hoax that they both failed, But I know for sure that at least one was legit.

Well. Now the resprayed bonnet needs respraying! The RAC towed me home after a hose split. And trailed the cable for the tow bar up the side of the car and down the bonnet. It scratched the fcuk out of the bonnet,. The RAC agreed a respray. and for the price the bodyshop have agreed to do the front bumper. Sweet. however since then, I have needed a new crack pipe, and dizzy and Leads. I hope this is it, as Im getting fed up of ploughing cash into a 20 year old car. gotta admit to adultoutus thoughts of alfa Romeo recently. Just wish I could get a company car. Bloody company only offer them to top management. The new 911 GTS is awesome.
-
Hmm. its a good point. To be honest I never asked what it was resprayed with, as I assumed tu pac was banned these days. Either way, I'm not surprised there was damage as the cable was rough to the touch and swung to and fro across the bonnet in sidewinds on a 30 mile tow home.
-
Update. 2 quotes, Both confirmed the scratches are deep enough to require a respray. RAC customer care were fantastic, taking less than 24 hours to agree the quote once I faxed them in. and agreed that they woudl send me the cheque directly so I can pay the bodyshop on completion rather than needing to wait for payment to be sent before they release the car. As such the Bodyshop will treat it as a cash job, and for only £100 more than the retail quote will do the front bumper too which has a few stonechips. All in all. Im failry pleased with how it all turned out.

Im with him on this. and having the gumption to sell his Ferrari shows he gives a ****. Fair play. Everyone knows manufacturers will tweak their cars a bit. I know for a fact that Porsche Press cars are subject to aditional checks before they leave the factory, But it is cosmetic stuff like tighter tollerances on pannel gaps, and the undersides of bonnet shuts and door slams having a better finish to the paint for close up shots. No mention of bhp increases. But Ferrari have been taking the pi$$ for ages now, and whilst they might not give two hoots about some shouty journo slating what has become the norm for them, Chris might want to make sure that his doors a re locked at nigth to prevent the Maffia putting a horses head in his bed.

Thanks Tom for the Coolant hose. You are true gent, and now I wont have to cycle to work any more. Ta. -
Yeah it might polish with a pro doing it, But the top scratch is deep enough to feel a ridge in the paint, and I am not really prepared to settle for a machine polish. The bonnet was only re-sprayed in the last 18 months.

Awesome. Can I provisionally Bagsy that hose please, pending condition and cost. -
I would have to dissagree with the above sentiments about the quality of a Samco hose. This is what happened to mine last night, Have been on the car for 30k.
-
Had cause to call the RAC last night, as a coolant hose let go on the M3. The purpose of this post is a word of warning to people. I was pre occupied with lorries zooming past so didnt notice that when he attached the towing board to the boot he ran the power cable down the side, over the wing mirror and trapped it under the wiper arm. The lead then went down the centre of the bonnet to his van. When we got back, I noticed 6 scratches where the lead had been blowing about on the drive home. To be fair, he was good about it, and agreed it must have been him, so signed on the form that it was his fault. So come monday morning, I will need to get stuck into customer care and organise a respray. Prety poor pics as it is raining and only have my phone pics so far but you get the idea.
